Sourced a 360 HD-DVD drive and have just ordered 4 HD-DVD's from amazon.com. Picking the drive up today, hopefully it'll have King Kong any ideas if that is the case? Not that it matters I'll find out this afternoon!

Have ordered, Full Metal Jacket, Tokyo Drift, Mission Impossible III, and Charlie and the chocolate factory from amazon.

Any other films people really recommend?

Also are their any big films coming up I should be excited for? I see blu ray will have Casino Royale and Pirates of the carabian 2, is there anything similar lined up for HD-DVD?

Batman Begins is great picture, sound and most importantly-movie!

A great purchase.

Casino Royale was practically bankrolled by Sony so it's not surprising it's Bluray exclusive :D

See http://www.movieweb.com/dvd/releases/hd/week.php and see if there's anything coming up that you like. Eventually of course either everything will end up being released on both formats (given that neither of them look like going away) or dual format drives will make the distinction irrelevant.

Thats great thanks, but it seems from that List Blu ray has far more titles coming up for it, still my drive will give me my HD fix untill the formats sort themselves out. I imagine they'll be dual format drives that will enable people to play their collections if there is an eventual winner.

Good point of view. Buy a cheap hd-dvd drive untill the war sorts it`s self out :)

Seems price is the big winner for hd-dvd :) for an unstable war of formats people will choose the cheaper untill it is sorted as who wants to pay 1k or so for a machine that may not win while they can buy a £300 version that gives u everything you want and you dont loose much money if the format looses :) which it will not.

Full Metal Jacket is one of the poorer HD-DVDs PQ wise which is a shame cos it's a very good movie.

I've only had a quick glance since my HD-DVD drive is for Xmas but from what I saw Good Night Good Luck looked superb in HD.

Corpse Bride seems to be getting a lot of good reviews for picture quality and it seems the forthcoming Hulk is challenging King Kong for the best movie to show of your HD-DVD set-up.

Well thats it, I mean you cant buy every movie released can you, so I can pick of the best from the HD-DVD guys and wait the inevitable £300 dual format players!

I blame the 360 for all this, Since I bought it i've purchased 3 HD Tv's (one an upgrade when I wanted a bigger screen!), a Yahama Home cinema surround sound system and now an HDDVD player. All in the space of a year! Next thing is upgrading the speakers!

Gutted Full Metal Jacket was te one I was most looking forward too..... probably play that one last!

Until we see HD-DVD and BD versions coming out at the same rate as the current up and coming DVD titles I'm not going to bother. Ill stay with DVD and get the likes of the new bond and Deja vu etc. Fed up with there only being back catalogue. I want new HD/BD releases.

Call me grumpy
