Hi guys and girls, just wondering if anyone has used a sky box via the RDXS32 through the component out to a display such as a Plasma/LCD or PJ ?

Looking for opinions on picture quality and difference from the scart version etc.

    Thanks in advance

    Taz

taz, I use my tosh as the projector source and view everything through it including Sky.

previously I used sky on the projector using an RGB to VGA concerter. But the tosh gives far better results. the prog scan on the tosh is better than the one on the projector (IMO)

Cheers for the reply m8, am i right in assuming that if i do go the plasma route the tosh will provide a better picture for sky over the scart route, has anyone tried this option.

    Thanks

i have a plasma and i tried to use the progressive scan from my panny DMR-E85H to view sky and freeview, the quality is actually worse than my straight RGB scart connection although i have just ordered some decent component cables as the ones i tried were rubbish.

well got the cables and i saw a marked improvment in quality, overall on sky and freeview i think RGB is still better, the edges of the text seems fuzzy on componant. Not tried a DVD yet so i cant comment on that.
maybe your progressive scan player will give better results

yeah it still hates the movement on footy games, i think thats more down to the amount of compression sky use than anything else

I'm using the Tosh to convert RGB from an STB to component for a plasma. It's replaced a JS tech RGB->VGA converter. The pic is okay but the JS tech box was better. I'd be surprised if going the component route is better than straight through RGB. Plus it's worth baring in mind the conversion doesn't happen with the Tosh in standby (=fan noise) and you lose the widescreen switching signal on the scart.

Flip side is component is great for DVD playback so it would be a shame not to use it.
