I just can't justify the £999 price tag!!... But, rarely do you hear so many good things about a product.

I had a quick demo today, and whilst I don't like the design or style of it you can tell that it was a quality product. (I just hope that they have improved the title page in the new Firmware as the old one looked like a 6 year old drew it).

But, are there ANY bad points?

The only down side that I know of are:-

    1. Only 1 SCART (Saying that, I only have one on my current player, so its not really a valid down side. But I must admit I would like 2, to pass through the RGB signal)

    2. Can't disable Macrovision (I am going to get a kicking from my other half when she asks me to put something on tape for her Dad to watch and I say that I can't.. She will just reply 'Your old £200 Samsung could')

Are there any other things that havn't meet expectations (Post 1.7 upgrade that is).

Any feedback would be appreciated, as I would dearly love not to buy one...

I have to say that if I had a grand to spend on a DVD player it wouldn't be the Arcam.

    It can't even play Karaoke ***! :D

    hmmmm...

Well I do find the remote a little fiddly and the credit card balance isn't what it was.

    Other than that.....

Ono.. If not the Arcam, then what?

I need somethign which plays CDRs and SVCDs, and most, if not all off the mainstream player (i.e Toshiba, Sony etc) can't do that!

What else is there for this kind of money?

On my Arcam FMJ DV27 I find the remote is a pain so programmed up the Pronto and tossed the Arcam remote in the box.

The Stop button also does not work on Menus...

That's about the criticisms I can find.

I agree with Jenz.. the stop button thing is annoying (but seems to be a Arcam Standard!)

Other than that I am Chuffed! :D

Not quite Dv-88 but I've noticed your long running quest for SVCD playback - have you read the Sd210E thread? David seems to've had a result...
