Now this is probably a stupid question. Of course I could perhaps get a dvd of Harry Potter film(s), have never seen any of them or even read the books but would quite like to. Just wondered though, if any of the series are ever likely to show up on FTA tv as opposed to sky etc, perhaps as Christmas films or something? Can`t remember having seen them listed before, but they have been going for 10 years, so would`nt seem unlikely.

ITV have been showing them through out the year, there were a few back in April and didn't they show the first movie last weekend?
Listings indicate Order of the Phoenix will be on ITV on the 19th December but this series has to be watched in order so you may have to wait a while for ITV to show it again if they still retain the rights or spend a few quid on the DVD, unless you really dislike supernatural & fantasy type movies you won't be disappointed.

Best bargain ever! Ours is selling the box set on DVD for £20 or on Blu-ray for £25 so I bought the Blu's the other day. Can't go wrong for 3 or 4 quid per film!

I lovethe films, I think they are very well made, scripted and acted. Obviously a few weak points here any there, but overall they are far more polished than a lot of the stuff that gets released nowadays.

I couldnt really get in to the book as I'm used to more hardcore fantasy fare like David Eddings etc, but from what I gather, it is best to either read the books OR see the films....

I went with the movies first (well the first 6) and finally bought the paperback boxset and really enjoyed them, perhaps a little over written at times and you get the impression they are longer than they need to be which is perhaps why the movie adaptations work so well.

I understand perfectly it is rare for the film to be faithful or suitably complimentary to the original book but in this modern world of ours I do believe it is hard for people to resist sampling both interpretations.

I have neither read or watched Harry Potter. A friend likes to remind that I am the only person in the world who refers to Hermione as Emma Watson

having not been 12 years old for a long time, i've never seen, read or had the slightest intention of doing so either. i've seen a few clips and they seem reasonably well done like lord of the rings, but i have no interest in kiddie magic and stuff. i'll reserve watching them until one day i have to baby sit and put on a movie that's not rated 18
