Whilst being honoured by having his name places on the walk in front of the Kodak theatre, Steven Spielberg announced that they were going to shoot an Indiana Jones 4.

I think it has been mooted for years, but I think nothing came of it there was talk of Indiana Jones and the Lost City of Atlantis. But this news came direct from Steven Spielberg mouth in public and on TV.

It was announced a month or two ago, when Ford confirmed that he and Spielberg have finally managed to find agreeable dates in their respective diaries.

It's not the age, it's the mileage. Actually, it is the age isn't it?

Nevermind it's still going to great. Indy rules.

Is that for him or his dad which I thought will be in the new film as well?

I think Harrison Ford is far too old to be playing Indiana Jones so I hope that he will take on the role that Sean Connery did in the Temple of Doom (it was that one wasn't it?) and we'll see Indie Jr or something. For the sake of credibility, I hope this will be the case. I have a feeling this one is going to be a bit pants though, no matter what they do ...

There have been rumours that Ford would be taking a backseat to a younger breed of 'Indy' for the fourth film, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

surely if Harrison Ford takes a backseat in Indy 4 , that'd be paving the way forth for even more sequels in light of the new young star taking over...

I just hope it doesn't go the Star Wars way where the 'prequels' have disappointed due to the great expectations put forth by the 'sequels'!

To be honest, I never really liked any of them that much. They were good, but nothing spectacular. I'll still buy them on DVD though, just in case they've improved with age :D

Have to say I loved the first, liked the second though a bit kiddie and thought the third the worst due to Ford having to play second fiddle to Connery. Hearing that Ford will take more of a backseat driver role could go either way, in that him in command again is great but if it's Indy jr doing the stuff of men, hmmmm.
The Star Wars debakle is anothe yin yang thing for follow ons by either lowering expectations and allowing the wow to come back or just dashed hopes.
Whatever, at least I4 offers excellance.

I thought the first one was great, 2nd one not as good as the first one and the last one the best ... always good to have Sean Connery as part of the movie cast!

Ford replaced with a younger Indy? Are you kidding! Obviously you aren't aware of the Playboy interview with Ford where he said that if Lucas and Speilberg tried to replace him he'd:

"First I'd tell them to go f*** themselves, then I'd kill them"

So what period will it be set?

Surely they can't keep using the 30s due to Harrison's age diff since The Last Crusade.

50s is more realistic but not the decade you'd normally associate with a 'Boys Own Adventure'

Yeah, it's a shame. The 30's was a good period with the Nazi's and their hunt for religious artifacts.
