    Hi All
I have just read a review for HK, and it got a glowing report, but I have had a quick look around on the forums and it seems to be a different story  . Has anyone got one of these and could they let me know what they think of it.

    Cheers :smashin:

I had one of these and have just sold it as i wanted a pioneer player. Player was very good in picture and sound and easily multi-regionable via handset hack. Played all but SACD/DVDAUDIO. Very solidly built player aswell.

Not sure why they get such bad/poor comments.

I've had no problems with mine, picture and especially sound are very good for the price - selling though to upgrade to a higher end model if you are interested.

i have a dvd 22 which i have made multiregion - really for the price of £200 from sevenoaks i cannot fault it :D

regarding its ocassional bad press i think this is largely down to the fact that its not one of the 'in' players amongst forum members - i know people with much more expensive players and to say the least they are well impressed with the dvd having seen it in action as opposed to only reading about it

I was going to list mine on eBay having replaced it with a Denon A11. But if the Multi Region hack is simple I should keep it ? Guys, what is the hack please ?

Is this a good DVD player? Reviews look good, but some people here were not impressed.

I'm looking for a DVD player to go with my Yamaha AX750 amp and MS Genie speakers, and would like like a player with good pictures on a CRT TV, good home cinema sound and reasonable CD playback (for a DVD player).

Also where is good (ie cheap) to buy Harman Kardon gear from? I've seen this player for £130 from pixmania but not sure whether they are a good company to buy from.

Which is the better DVD player, the HK DVD 22 or Pioneer DV575? I presume the HK is better due to the higher price (although I know this is not always an indicator of quality).

Also if you buy from pixmania does it come with a "foreign" plug and a convertor?

It's not that the HK 22 isn't a good player, it's just that it's seriously overpriced. At the £135 that Pixmania asks, it's OK. Don't be mislead by the HK name.

For those interested, here is the multiregion hack:
    - turn on the player
    - go into the setup menu
    - highlight 'setup', i.e. place the cursor on setup
    - press '3141590'

    And that's it.

I have just bought it (great bargai) nand so far I am very happy with it: the audio is very good even compared to my old CEC CD player. I can't really judge the video section as I have a crap TV for the moment.
Also, it reads absolutely every format of writable media: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+-R, DVD-+RW.
