Hardware error with mac mini DVD writer ??

Seems my DVD writer has packed up. It will not burn anything with 2 different makes of DVD-R and will not erase a DVD-RW disc...never had this before and I've gone though 4 mac mini's over the years. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago...

If it's covered under warranty/Applecare then get it replaced. If not you can get a cheap external Superdrive for just 39 pounds Apple MacBook Air superdrive - Woolworths
