Can anyone tell how to do a soft or hard reset for this DVD/HDD recorder?

I had backed up one of my DVDs with my PC DVD writer, but it failed just before the end of writing, so I inserted the disk into the Panasonic to see if anything on the disk was playable and now the whole machine has frozen!

I have unplugged it a couple of times, but each time it went through a very long (more than two minutes) 'self check', and when the check was over the machine wouldn't respond to any buttons - not even the on/off button, or the eject button.

    Help please! MLS

Have you tried holding in the eject button while you turn it on?

Thanks Nelviticus - In fact, after being frozen for about ten minutes or more, I was eventually able to eject the disk normally. If it happens again, I'll try your suggestion. MLS

It happened to me once, see page 60 of the manual. You have to press and hold the stop button and channel up button on the main unit for about 5 seconds.
