I've loaded a few albums onto itunes which are now on my ipod. Rather than buying a larger hard drive, can i just delete the albums from itunes without it affecting what's already on the ipod?

Will the ipod tracks delete as well to sync with itunes?

If you've set it to synch then it will delete the tunes on your ipod as well.

can you stop is syncing though so it doesn't delete the files that are no longer on the PC...?

I want a 40gb IPOD, but I only have about 27GB left on my laptop so would need to delete some stuff from the harddrive once it is on the ipod.

You can turn the auto synch off and do it manually.

If you do manually sync I take it that files deleted from the PC are not deleted from the ipod as well then?

    Thanks

That's the way I believe it works (but don't blame me if it doesn't!!). This is taken from Apple:-
"In Manual Mode, you take total control over the contents of your iPod by dragging individual songs to create your own custom playlists. This lets you decide when to update your iPod, since it’s not affected by changes in your music library."
