So is there any way to find out the RPM (rotations per minute)
of MP3 player hard drives?
I am curious because I find the loading time is a lot (LOT)
faster on my new iPod mini than it was on my old Zen Micro.

I believe all the iPods up to date have used 4200 RPM hard drives.

With most harddisks made in the last few years there will be not alot of differece between loading a small 3/4MB mp3 file. Its more likely to be some design feature in the hardware or software (of firmware if you like)

The bigger capacity drives (the 20+ Gig'ers) are spinning at 4200rpm according to Toshiba's site while the mini's are spinning at 3600rpm.
