If you have a Barclaycard you can purchase now if price is reduced within 90 days Barclaycard will refund you the difference - this even applies to online retailers.

It really all comes down to how urgently you want/need something.

Depending on what you want, you may want to wait a little longer and see what the 2005 rages have to offer - e.g.HDD/DVD Freeview (with/without TopUp TV) recorders.
Anyone got any inside info on this?

A bit OT I know, will HD/DVD recorders with Freview tuners be a big deal next year? Surely with Freview being a UK only thing the machines would be pointless outside the UK?

Wait! I am desperate to buy my AV kit but it's only 17d's to x-mas and I'd be mad to buy now. I have no DVD player full stop. I think my new approach might be, use the Xbox I've just bought for my son for xmas until the new year and then see what happens.

Blu-Ray is for sale in Japan...it's only a matter of time (though if current prices are anything to go buy, I'll have to re mortgage).

    :)

I have just seen in Dixons a LOGIK LCX27WN2 27 in for a mere £799.
I would really like a LCD screen as this is about my price range.I have heard plasma screens have a poorer pic and limited lifespan.
I am not too concerned about size as at the moment I only have a 25 in tv.
This price seems a steal, but will it go down after xmas? Anyone know of cheaper LCD'S online?

From another thread there is a suggestion that Toshiba HDD/DVDs sold in the UK may be PAL-I only, whereas most of Europe use PAL-B/something.
Also the PC industry make digital TV cards suitable for the UK, and Sony have a Freeview DVD machine.

Is there anything unique about the UK's digital TV system such that no other countries will use it or a variation (like PAL)?
I'm sure I read in a thread somewhere that the Netherlands will have a digital system in 2005.

    Ever hopeful.... :)
