cheers - would not be brave enough to be the guinea pig with the 37 inch model

does no one own this tv??

bump

bumping again - cant believe no one has taken the plunge on a 37 inch lcd for under 500 quid!

some views on this set now starting to emerge (thanks to Dak on MSE)

"Got mine delivered this morning (after ordering yesterday about 1pm).

Finally finished setting it up (took about an hour)

First impressions are very good and well worth the money. Picture quality is excellent (tried from a dvd player, a freeview box, Sat receiver over Scart and over the air). No smearing and a very colourful picture (the cebeebies test )

Not tried HD on it yet but will connect up my laptop later and fire a few demos at it.

Good points:
Excellent picture on SD
Good connectivity
Excellent price

Bad points:
Sound a bit lacking in depth
Remote control operation a bit slow at times
Switching between OTA and the various scart connections is a bit of a pain

Now to find a way of mounting it so that the kiddywink doesn't pull it over.

Overall I'm very glad with the purchase."

Just ordered mine after bad experience with 'Buzzing Backlight Toshiba 37WLT66.

Can u post some pics of the XV.

What's the finish of the set like.

Does it have a backlight (I don't think it has)

Did you buy it from Intekx Ltd, they seem ok to deal with so far, prompt reply to emails etc..................

Looking forward to that mate..im very tempted by this TV.

I'd spotted that forum during my Hannspree XV phishing

But thanks anyway.................!

Just noticed today that Intekx.com have dropped the price to £493 with FREE delivery !!!!!!!!!!!

I've emailed them to see if they will refund the difference,I only bought it yesterday at 2pm

The XV32 is down to £357 + Free delivery.

These sets have got to worth a look at these prices + 2yr warranty as standard

I'd rather pay £500 for a set with maybe a few issues than £1500-2000 for a top brand with serious issues
............(Sharp 46/52XD1E anyone ?????)
you won't be let down as you would with a £1500 Sony 40W (I was going to wait for one of these, but they have backlight issues)

From the reveiws on Fatwallet.com people are impressed for the price.

If I get this set I will be using a seperate centre speaker. Is there any way of finding out what the height is from the bottom of the stand to the bottom of the screen?

Basically i don't want my centre speaker to to cover the bottom part of the screen:D

Here's hoping.

regards

Parmenion

Can anyone tell me are the scarts RGB is the TV tuner analogue or digital and is the set NTSC compatible. I did find the manufacturers web site but it does not give any detailed specs.

its not got freeview built in.

not sure of both scarts are rgb enabled or ntsc compatible.

their email help comes back pretty quick - try them

Hi Geoggy i have E-Mailed them as you suggested i did find a on line manual which does say that both scarts are RGB compliant so just need to find out about the NTSC issue.

cheers - let us know what they say. i'll be flabbergasted if it cant handle ntsc - even my old CRT can

Hi pips, has anyone tried connecting a games console (xbox 360 or Ps3) to this ? I think this could be a bargin but want to make sure there is not any major issue's before hand (I currently have one of the samsung 409 slimfits and asides from a few geo issue's it's a bargin, would just like something smaller that can be wall mounted !)

37" XV arrived today.

First Impressions;

Build quality better than the Tosh WLT66 I had.

Piano black surround looks superb.

DvD quality Very Good, maybe not quite as crisp as the Tosh.

NTL through Scart Ok,depending on channel.BBC not as good as NTL on the Tosh.

Picture from Tosh idtv freeview was excellent.

Viewing angle Superb, when of the best I've seen !

Blacks are Black !! IMHO

On/Off button (the Tosh didn't have one!)

The Remote is much better than the one supplied with the WLT66 which was a complete idiot!!

No backlight, so no BUZZ !!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

Would like to see Sky/NTL HD feed working on the XV

On the down side there is slight backlight bleed in the bottom corners
but it doesn't show through whilst viewing a picture.
If it was a £1500 Sony it might bother me but at £498 it won't !!

Intekx seem to have gone quiet on the email front after asking for a refund
for the difference after they dropped the price and included free delivery on Saturday morning
( I only ordered mine at 2pm Friday) :nono:

As I've said before, until the big boys sort themselves out on the Lcd front
(problem wise)I think the XV is a complete bargain.
Just need to convince the Boss we need Sky HD :suicide:

Just a quick note

Picture quality definitely getting better after 5hrs on constant.

I think it's settling in nicely :D

Maybe it's just my eyes getting used to a 37" lcd again !!

Have been watching 21" 14:9 CRT Philips for past 2 months. :(

Will try to post some pictures soon.

Just BUY ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watching Champions League at the moment.

ITV football broadcasts are notoriously bad especially on LCD/Cable

It's pretty poor, but so was my Tosh WLT66,there seems to be less ghosting but the overall picture is very pixelated.

The FA cup last saturday was a much better picture certainly not as much ball/player motion blur.
I'd say better than the Tosh through Cable/RGB.

Would like to see football with Sky/VirginMedia HD just to compare.
