Hannspree TV vs Hanns.G Monitor

Standard Member
I’m confused by the Hanns.G and Hannspree branding. Very.
I’m looking for a cheap 27” monitor as I can’t afford the 2560 x 1900 I want till the prices come down or technology obsoletes them.

There are two 27” screens marketed by Hanns.G/Hannspree in the UK – they appear technically identical. One is marketed at the TV sector with a Freeview Tuner & the other at the Computer sector (no TV Tuner).

The Hanns.G HZ281 HPB is the unit focussed at the Computer User. It is some £260.

The Hanspree ST281 MAB is the unit focussed at the TV/Home user. It is some £210.

Go figure.

The units appear identical, except the company has ripped the Freeview Tuner out of the Hanspree; called it a Hanns.G fiddled with the model number and added £50 to the price ?

Am I cynical & wrong ? Please advise.

Thx - Richard

Im asking the exact same question. Interested to see if anyone knows the answer. I was looking for a monitor and was deciding between these two.

The man at Hannspree in Hemel Hempstead doesnt want to be quoted verbatim. But he says to all intents & purposes the units above are identical, their existence as different model numbers (the casing is different) owes more to the company's branding policies & marketing structure than anything else. Panel technology is the same at this end of the market, there are few panel manufacturers...the same technology thus appearing in ' all ' brands.
