Hallmark have started running "Hamish Macbeth" repeats on Saturdays and Sundays again. I've seen every epsiode before, but even so: recorded then rewatched the 1st episode yesterday - "The Great Lochdubh Salt Robbery". I have to say that, even with the dodgy picture quality and maddening cuts that you get from Hallmark, it's still a damn fine program. They managed to squeeze more into a single episode than most films that run two or three times as long, and it's all there - comedy, drama, strange (sometimes surreal) happenings, top-notch acting, wonderful dialogue. How come they don't make programs like that any more?
