Halo: Reach Challenges Guide

Challenges Guide

I thought it might be nice to have a little library for the quickest way of getting these daily and (through them in most cases) weekly challenges done.

Any Mode

Kill xxx enemies in any mode
Target Locator on ONI Sword Base is quickest (for example, 150 enemies takes less than 5 minutes). Other ways are to play Score Attack or let them come naturally through the campaign or multiplayer.

Long Night of Solace Rally Point A seems to give out 2 kills per Banshee – which is a bit odd, but it works so hey...

Customize your Spartan's armour in the Armoury
You don’t even need to buy anything. Just change a part of your armour to something else and it’ll unlock.

Matchmaking

Get xxx assists in multiplayer matchmaking
Use Rumble Pit or Multi-Team because if you don’t kill someone there are enough enemies around to finish the job.

Kill xxx enemies in multiplayer matching
Rumble Pit or Multi-Team carnage are best for this.

Earn xxx kills with close quarters combat in multiplayer Matchmaking
Get in close and pummel!! Rumble Pit or Multi-Team are best.

Earn xxx kills with headshots in multiplayer Matchmaking
Play SWAT.

Link your gamertag with Bungie.net and play a game in Halo: Reach Matchmaking
Go to Bungie.net, create and account and link it to your gamertag. Start matchmaking and then back out, the challenge should unlock.

Earn your 'Revenge' in a multiplayer Matchmaking game
Kill the guy who killed you.

Avenge your teammates' deaths xxx times in multiplayer Matchmaking
Best played in SWAT or Multi-Team. Try to stick near each other so that if someone gets killed you might be able to get them back.

Kill xxx enemies in multiplayer Matchmaking while you're jet-packing
Don’t use Bumper Jumper for a start! – might need some advice on this one chaps as I’ve never got it!

Earn xxx kills with precision weapons in a multiplayer Matchmaking game (Note: this can also be 'earn at least xxx kills in a game')
Play in SWAT and get the set number of kills.

Earn xxx kills with precision/automatic weapons in Matchmaking
Precision weapons - DMR in SWAT.
Automatic weapons - kills with the Assault Rifle or Needler will count.

Complete xxx games in multiplayer Matchmaking
Self explanatory. Just keep at it!

Win xxx games in multiplayer Matchmaking
Get winning!

Earn xxx sprees in multiplayer Matchmaking (sometimes it's in one game - see challenge below)
Get killing! You will probably need to die after the first Killing Spree as I don't think Killing Frenzy will count.

Earn xxx Double Kills in the same match in multiplayer Matchmaking
Rumble Pit or Multi-Team are your best bet here. Most double kills either come from jammy kills with grenades or nailing two other people having their own little scrap.

Campaign

Complete xxx level with xxx skulls enabled on Heroic or higher
Get to work Noble! Winter Contingency is the best for this. It can be done really quick by running past the first two encounters with the Grunts & co (ie down the hill and up the other side), then run past the Elites using the far left.

When you get in the jeep, drive through the small garage of the first building, past the second building and onto Corporal Travis.

Complete xxx level on legendary without dying
This is best tried in co-op, one person is the canary and the other person hangs back to act as a respawn point. It's better with more than two people though as some of the enemies (especially the Elite Generals) can be a nightmare to deal with on your own.

Kill xxx enemies with automatic/precision weapons (or pistol) in the Campaign today
Need to use the appropriate weapon. Winter Contingency Rall Point B is a good one for this plus reloading the checkpoint after the big wave of enemies has dropped on you.

Kill xxx Grunts in campaign
Load up Winter Contingency Rally Point B and shoot every Grunt you can see, and then reload the checkpoint. There are around 20-25 Grunts here.

Kill xxx Leaders in campaign
The easiest, quickest way to do this is using the Target Locator on ONI Sword Base.

Other way is load up Long Night of Solace Rally Point B. There are four Elites, kill them and reload the checkpoint.

Kill xxx Moa in Winter Contingency on Normal or harder
Load up Winter Contingency and after Kat points out there’s smoke at the next structure; there will be two Moa round the corner. Kill them, reload the checkpoint and repeat.

Kill xxx enemies with a headshot on Nightfall
Get to the first large area where Jun says you’ve 'really ****** them off', shoot away and reload the checkpoint (which should kick in when you get to the rocks)

Kill xxx Elite Drop Pods in The Long Night of Solace
Load up Long Night of Solace Rally Point A, and get to the part where you have to take down the Corvette's engines. Underneath on the edges you'll see some blue dots shooting down to the planet's surface - these are the drop pods. Best thing to do is fly underneath and line yourself up with one side to try and get them in batches of three as they spawn.

Kill xxx enemies while jet packing in Exodus
Load Exodus Rally Point A, get a jet pack and the first group of enemies you come to, throw a grenade into the middle of them and then start jet packing, if any of them get asploded it will count towards the challenge.

Kill xxx enemies with the Designator in ONI on Heroic
Start ONI Sword Base, run past all the enemies and get the Target Locator. Blow up enemies.

Score xxx points on any Campaign mission (sometimes add in ‘with less than xxx deaths’)
Load up Long Night of Solace Rally Point A, legendary and all skulls on. Fly around and blow things up. Should take about 15 minutes.

Firefight

Kill xxx enemies in Firefight Matchmaking (sometimes tied to a particular level like Waterfront or Holdout, just keep going until you get it)
Play a game of Score Attack

Kill xxx enemy vehicles in Firefight Matchmaking
Holdout has some Banshees flying around in Score Attack. If you play with a friend and two guests, Beach Head, Glacier or Overlook are the best ones.

Kill xxx enemies with headshots in a multiplayer Matchmaking game
Easy. Gruntpocolypse.

Kill xxx enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with precision weapons
Score Attack, Gruntpocolypse will always give you a DMR.

Kill xxx enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with the Grenade Launcher
Load up normal Score Attack (no Gruntypockolipz or Sniper Attack), choose the load out with the grenade launcher and blast away.

Kill xxx enemies in Firefight Matchmaking with grenades
Load up Score Attack and chuck any grenade shaped objects at the enemy in a relentless fashion.

Kill xxx enemies with a Supercombine from the Needler or Needle Rifle in Firefight Matchmaking
Done in Score Attack, it can be tricky because the famine skull is usually on. In Firefight the Brutes are the easiest targets. This is one of the more annoying challenges.

Earn xxx multikills in a Firefight Matchmaking game
Can just about be done in Score Attack, otherwise you could follow the same method as the Target Locator challenge below.

Kill xxx enemies using the xxx in Firefight Matchmaking
Find said weapon and kill said number. The example I found this was the energy sword which means it's best to play with a friend and two guests so you can overcome the Elite Generals.

Kill xxx enemies using the Target Locator in Firefight Matchmaking (variation of above)
Nice little way to do this is to find a friend with two controllers. You both sign a guest in and then jump into Firefight matchmaking. One of you goes first and then the other when the second weapon drop kicks in – no more squabbling with randoms!

Complete a Firefight Matchmaking game with fewer than xxx deaths (sometimes without dying)
Play Score Attack and don’t die! That Corvette level is best for this.

I personally find Sniperfight on Courtyard the easiest way to survive a match without dying as once you're tucked up in the corner it's very hard for enemies to get to you without walking straight at you giving you plenty of time to cut them down. Obviously you just need to keep an eye on the skirmishers who can leap up but they're quite predictable. I find Corvette a lot tougher as there's nowhere quite as safe particularly with the lethal grenade throwing which for some reason the enemies don't use on Courtyard. Credit: Johnmcl7

Score xxx points on any Firefight map
Find one of the many infinite ammo and shields game types floating around in File Share land (like mine :D) and go crazy. Best level is Courtyard because it’s small. Should take about half an hour for a million.
