I'm late to this sort of thing. Since I've been at home this week I started playing Halo. Finished it, got online and Wow!!!! What a laugh. :smashin:

Great fun blowing people up for real. Never played online ever before. Love it.

I just need to know, do you all use joysticks?

The people I come up against, bounce around all over the place, have excellent aim and won't stand still long enough like good sports to allow me to kill them.

You must have really bendy fingers then. :)

I take it you've changed the settings to suit more?

I'll still give a joystick a go though.

I will be like the wind..............

Any particular mouse? I had an cordless mouse that kept dying on me which I replaced with an optical mouse which occasionally spazziz out, leaving me staring at the floor/ceiling. Not good when your already rubbish at HL2 deathmatch.

My last two mice have been the logitech MX700 and currently the MX1000 lazer. Both are wireless and have given me nothing but great performance with all my games. They are very comfortable and allow many extra functions (like side scrolling) with all the extra reprogramable buttons they have available. They're fairly expensive but worth every penny imo.

Like Hawklord I can thoroughly recommend the Logitech MX700 and the battery life I would say is good for at least 8 hours continuous use before putting in the docking cradle to charge for a couple of hours. It's only rechargable AA's so you can have some charged spares if you go on a 24 hour FPS binge :D

Thanks for that, i'll check them out. What about battery life? The batteries on my HP wireless mouse lasted only a matter of weeks! I ended up having to open the damn thing up every night to take them out.

The mx1000 has an even longer battery life before recharge than the mx700. I tend to place it in the docking station every 3-4 days of use but that's usually when one light (there are three) has gone out (still 2/3 charged). I have had this mouse about 4 months now and have not had to replace/fiddle with the batteries atall. I owned the mx700 for about a year with no battery issues before replacing it with the mx1000. Either mouse would be a great purchase imo but if I had to choose then the mx1000 would just nose it. If you want a cordless mouse then overclockers offer plenty of choice at competative prices:-

Thanks for the link Hawklord. I really like the sound of that laser mouse, both of the optical mice I have used have been fairly unresponsive and inaccurate; hopefully this new technology will rectify that problem.

    Thanks again

I ended up with a saltek st290 joystick.

Not bad but I still need to use the keyboard.

However, I've become more efficient and have made a widow or two.:):):)

Is Halo on the XBox the same as the PC version?

I use an adapted Sega Master System joypad and a 2 button ball mouse because I'm 'ard and I don't need gimmicks like strafing or gun switching to kick arse. Rarrr

    Ha

Well In that case i'll get my old pong paddle out of the loft. We can start a "retro peripheral" clan.

I think Halo is a straight port. Just higher framerate and resolution.

That's an idea, D-man! Form a clan that uses mininal PC specs that Halo will run on, tiny green screen monitors with tinny monoraul sound, and single button joypads and mice and we'll all connect to the server with 2.8baud modems. Rarrr

I found this while googling Underclockers, D-man

One gaming clan of underclockers, The TurTle Posse, claims to have never won a match. Founding member Kyle Harding said "No wins and 457 losses. We're proud of that and our 'dial-up only' requirement. Here's how our games usually go: the other team kills us and like five minutes later we find out we're dead. I get like ten frames per minute. That's frustrating as all hell, but that's what underclocking is all about."
