Mediatek chipsets have problems with 4k/120Hz and it uses only half vertical resolution and upscale it to full.

I have 55c728. i am using it like pc monitor and at 4k/120hz its looks like sh*t.

Does TCL company have an answer to that issue?

I had a c825, now I'm thinking about Samsung or the new c935, and this is also one of the reasons why I'm worried about buying a c935, it has the same chipset.

TCL's solution on newest models still using the older Meditek chipset is to use some form of internal chroma subsampling, so your now getting the full resolution at 4K 120hz but not chroma 444 which is fine for games but not ideal for PC desktop text rendering.

Here is were Vincent tests the TCL C935 on this issue.

Mediatek themselves have a new chipset (branded pentonic) which solves it but wont be available till some time later this year, maybe products ship with it in 2023 if not then probably products in 2024.

As to older models like the C728, no idea if they would apply the same fix as above via firmware update or leave as is with half resolution.
