According to play.com, the release date is now 24/9/04!
Ignore it,just the games shops pulling random dates out of the air.My money is still on April
www.avault.com (usually pretty reliable) have it down for March 30th , in their new updated 'coming soon' section.
Sometime soon would be good, I have an Ati Radeon 9800 Pro and nothing to show it off.
A mate came round to have a look and I had literally nothing to make him go wow.
I had to load up Halo and say, this game normally runs like a pile of poo, and now it is reasonably playable although it looks dull as hell.
God please don't make me wait til September! No wonder pirate versions are turning up on shops in Russia, because no one has got a clue about when the game is going to be out. If Valve just gave people a rough estimate I'm sure it'd be appreciated.
CNN article about half-life 2 release date
heres the important bit
"While still shying away from giving a firm date, Doug Lombardi, Valve's director of marketing, told me the company "is currently targeting this summer for the completion of Half-Life 2".
.....FOR F**KS SAKE!! - Dean
C&VG's website is reporting a summer completion fpr the game too, with a likely autumn release. A year late then. Looks like September was the right month all along, they just forgot to tell us what year
yeah, kind of makes you think that the whole deal about delaying the game because of the hacked code, was a load of old cobblers. I bet the game was nowhere near finished when that happened.
You can say that again. I bought a Sapphire 9800 pro ready for half life 2 then the source code was stolen. at the moment i am playing old DOS games in 720 x 400 on my 9800 pro.
Can the card cope? I wouldn't worry too much - at least you know when HL2 and Doom III appear you'll be able to run them fine. And the games that follow will use their engines for the subsequent couple of years - so you will see the benefit of your investment eventually.
It is a little annoying the game hasn't appeared yet - it's 7 months late now - that's over half a year just because some code was stolen
Ah..it'll be out when it's out. This games litterally littered with tidy games coming out. Personally i'm after another MMORPG to get into but there looks to be precious sod all coming out for a bit. The best one looks like Dark & Light..but that'll be months before it hit's the shops I reckon. I can't be arsed with EQ2 or Ultima X. World of Warcraft and Lineage 2 look like the only remotely decent possibilities and they are both out in April.
Hehe, I keep telling people to import FFXI, seriously the best MMORPG I have played
im playing "arc twilight of the spirits"its as good as any final fantasy game, give it a try
yeah must say FFXI looks tidy. What would you say makes it a decent game. I've read a few of the reviews on WWW.MMORPG.COM and they seem to state problems with the language barrier, the fact that although it has 1,000,000 characters they are all very similar (just different colours etc.), the level grind is just as dull as other games and that the game as a whole offers nothing really that we haven't seen before in games such as DAOC, EQ etc. On the plus side it must have had a lot of previous good reviews as it's got a very respectable 8/10 score! I would be interested to hear what you like/dislike about it Sinzer.
Hi Dennis, that's just a traditional RPG i'm affraid. I'm looking for a new MMORPG at the moment.
woss that then??
An MMORPG is short for Massivly Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. It's a genre made popular by games such as Everquest and Dark Age of Camelot. Generally they are ongoing rpg's where most of the characters you meet are other players. The world persists when you are not there and when you log on you start from where you left off. They are therefore different from traditional stroy driven RPG's such as Knights of the Old republic, Baldurs gate, neverwinter nights etc. Whilst some of those can be played on line, the world you play in is not persistant and the number of players is very limited. Check out www.mmorpg.com for more info.
ahh right ,now i know ta.
Over here gthom3
Looks like Doom 3 is going to be delayed as well now, Hinting at september
Funny how they released those bink videos and graphics card benchmarks telling people how the radeons would run HL2 so well (and then signed a huge deal to sell XTs with HL2 coupons) even though the game wouldnt be released for another year at best.
It all stinks to me, and has left a rather bad taste in my mouth with regards to Half Life 2.
totally agree with you sweetmate
lol yeah, you'll probably be able to buy the next generation Radeon card with another voucher by the time it comes out!
The original Half-Life was about 5 years overdue though. It seemed to be the norm in the 90s for games to be held back indefinitely
Then most of them never even got released (I'm still waiting for Mega lo Mania 2).
mega lo mania !!
*puts on camp voice "do you want to be on my side?"
Dont even mention duke nukum forever.......
sorry, but i've got to now
last i heard, they've changed it again, this time to be based on the Doom 4 engine
