In a few years I'm hoping to get a hair transplant. I've been losing my hair for about 10 years (Although very slowly).

I want to preserve what I already have so what do people recommend?

Dont really want to spend more than £30-£40 pm.

Prevent hair loss? What you eat is important, correct amount of vitamins and minerals. Also life style, too much stress and not enough exercise causes hair loss.

The fact is though male pattern baldness cannot be cured, but not all hair loss is due to male pattern baldness.

Might be an idea to have a chat with your doctor about hair loss.

Doesn't that stuff lower your blood pressure?
No idea. All I know about it is what I learnt from that episode

Edit: Doesn’t mention it in the side effects section on the Wikipedia page, although best to check the official info on NHS website.

Message to the OP.
I fully appreciate what you are planning to do, and of course, it's all a very personal choice.
However, I would just say, from my own point of view, just cut it short, save your money, and stop worrying about it.
Friends, a few days after you do it, won't even think twice and just accept the change.
Strangers won't even give you a second look.
I know it's not what you are asking for, and I appreciate that, It's just so easy to stop worrying about if you crop it all off, and move on.

Apologies for saying this, just my opinion of course, I hope whatever you decide makes you happy :)

Hair loss in men is mainly due to hormones. The top region of hair on a man is affected by these hormones and thats usually how hair loss starts. (Sorry if you already knew that)

The side regions arnt affected which is why the area is used for hair transplants.

I was hoping some forum members had first experience with a certain product. Baldness cant be cured, but I can save and reverse hair loss with what I already have using certain products.

No offence taken from your post :)

I have a grade 2 all over, but due to my missing hairline, it makes me look much older than I actually am.
I wasnt bothered for years with hairloss, but I suppose it got to a point in which I wasnt comfortable with.
I hate having my picture taken because of it, and with me having fair skin and light hair, I look like a lighthouse when the light shines on my head :D

Understood.

Why I mention seeing a doctor is because hair loss can be caused by a medical condition. Also, the doctor can point you in the right direction regarding (if necessary) seeing a specialist.

Another idea :)
Have you considered, or looked into SMP - Scalp micropigmentation ?

I have actually. I do really like the idea but its expensive and only lasts about 6 months :(

If I had the money I'd do the lot in one go :D

In my opinion, there is only one way to deal with hair loss, and that's to give your self a grade one all over. Anything else will leave you open to ridicule, humiliation and bankruptcy.

Shaving all your hair off is liberating. Just go with it. :)

I use Watermens Grow Me.

I havent noticed it preventing pattern baldness (but in saying that since using it ,it hasnt gotten any worse) but it sure does make your hair thats growing a hell of a lot thicker, so it sort of covers up the thinning bits. I'm pretty happy with the results, but its obviously minimal results, don't expect miracles, and takes quite a few months to be noticeable.

Go bald gracefully

My hair is going backwards, thinning and getting more grey by the day. I'm 36 in a few weeks...

Im a year older than you but I've been thinning for a long time. Lucky grey doesnt show on me much due to my lightish hair.
Different story though with my beard. I look like Gandalf when its longer :D

Now I know it all depends on your overall look, and these are nice photo's.
But IMHO, guys who have hair loss, but also other facial hair can look pretty dam good.
I can't see many people/ladies having any issues with the look of any of these:

All depends on your look/build/face/head-shape of course.

Oddly enough, I think Trump actually looks better like this:

See what I mean about no/little hair and having facial hair instead.
if I'm honest, he looks pretty dam good like this:

Has the OP considered such a look for the future, it really seems to suit some people

Ok get a room :D

Ive always got facial hair, without it I look babyish.

I dont even mind sporting very short hair, would just like to have a hairline again.

I think maybe because I have a young looking face is one of the reasons as well. A bald head doesnt suit me well.

A nice hair piece? :D

A lot of wise words have already been said, I'm in the go boldly bald camp. Regardless of any treatment it will look better and natural, very easy in the mornings as well.

But other than that, did you know that Shampoo originates from India :D:rotfl:
