at a budget of £1500, would it be better to get an older version pioneer or the 50v10, this is mainly for sport sky hd and ps3?
Pioneer are better than panasonic, so would i do better for the money with an older version of pioneer?
Thanks
Help appreciated

I'd personally say that the Pioneer 5090/KRP 500 would better, but it is a close call in HD, SD content is where the Pioneer clearly has the edge. However, the Pioneers full calibration controls (or at least nearly full) mean that you can get everything completely right, leading to an overall better picture. And the blacks are deeper

A second hand 8G Pio will set you back about £800-£1000 so i would definitely consider it. However, anything older than that and i would defo go for the newer Pannie (V10), not only will the V10 perform better but you can secure a 5 year warranty :smashin:

Sorry, i was thinking 2nd hand on anything other than a 9G Pio.
I wouldn't even dream of paying £1500 for a new 8G, best to source one from these forums and hope it has some warranty remaining (and transferrable)

I'd go for the 50V10, especially with the 5yr Panasonic warranty now available.
Buying second hand means no or little warranty.

I recently bought a 5090 with stand, speakers & 5 years warranty for £1600 (from John Lewis), and others have done likewise. By all means get a 50V10 if you prefer it, but the Pioneer is to be had for similar money.

Another forum member posted that they had gotten that price and I got JL to match it, down from £2200. So that's at least two of us that have not had to pay more in recent days.

great, mind telling us who you price matched with as a LX508 is still £1500 without 5 year warranty

I got JL to pricematch a JL sale to another forum member who'd posted the price in these forums. I went into JL with no more information than you have now.
