Can this system be hacked via a remote or do I need to pay to have it done?

    Thanks

I believe it can be remote hacked- but I haven;t got the instructions yet- only for the SX120- I'll send them to you when back at work AW

OK have just tested this on a DVXS200- works ok. instructions were for the DVXS120

    turn unit off
hold ABCDE key and turn unit on (STBY key)
then within 3 secs press memory key. display says Diag mode
press SKIP >>I (to right of play button)
    press DVD/CD button
press shift and 8 buttons together
    press SKIP>>I until Vermatrix appears
Press PLAY key says Vermatrix INIT

(didn't seem to need this next bit on a 200 so disregard- may need it for the 120? press skip to get vermatrix again- the shift+ 7- init reappears)

    continue..
keep pressing skip until F(0) appears press play
are you sure? appears press play again
wait 20 secs appears- WAIT!! writing to eeprom in progress-- display doesn't change!
then turn off, back on and its multiregion

the orig instructions are like a translation from japanese so interpretation was difficult.- just be careful not to set anything that you don't understand!!! I won't be held responsible.
there are other options you can set in tvsetup menu like pal/ntsc YUV etc- but I presume these can be set using normal menus.

    Good luck AW

If you can't even get to diag mode then perhaps check the following: make sure theres no disc in unit. use just the buttons on the main unit, I think you release ABCDE key after turning power on before pressing memory key, but try it both ways. give good length button pushes to allow system to register keypress.... good luck..
