Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 are supposed to be the best PC speakers available.

I'll probably go for those. Thanks a lot. Seems very good. Design, no. Sound, yes. And sound is most important to me in this case... I'm a fan of music

for me the looks were a bonus, the sound was the big issue for me, they are just crisp and tight sounding, you will regret it if you don't get them.

I also went for sound, i think you need to get them side by side and audition both.

Well if you want the best sound quality, you should go down seperates, it'll cost around 4x as much as the Aego's though. Also has input switching, so if you have lots of sources (rather than just one, the PC) they're worthwhile.

Yeah I'm just saying if he has 2+ sources, then needs to go seperates. He didn't say can't increase the budget either.

That's right. I can't pay 4x, though I could... I can afford it, but I'm spending money like never before on computer, games, mp3-players, lcd-screen etc.

I'll go for the Aego. Looks like ****, but it has a timeless design right? :p

If you want decent 2 channel pc sound, get an old power amp (doesn't need to have fancy features, just a power amp, I'd use a Quad 303) and a pair of bookshelf monitor speakers - pretty much any secondhand 2 channel stereo system you could knock up in this way will sound better than the soundsticks for similar price - having said that I have a set of Soundsticks on my bedroom / desktop system
