I recently got a European (UK) verison of this RF keyboard/mouse combo and I am a bit unimpressed. Maybe someone else with one can tell me if my unit is faulty or if it is bad by design.

The US version appears to have 8 RF channels (around 49MHz) and most of the rest of the world gets 4 channels (around 40MHz).

The documentation says the receiver will work on 2 channels simultaneously allowing simultaneous operation of two devices.

Mine does not. I can't make the mouse and keyboard both work unless they are set to the same channel. Set to the same channel they can't be used simultaneously, for example you can't move the mouse while holding down the shift key, I can't shift or control click anything.

Can anyone else with a 4 channel version move the mouse while holding down the shift key?

No problem with mouse and shift key here.

Only problem I have is the re-charging often fails leaving the mouse completely drained.

I have the Gyration system here...absolutely no problems with keyboard or mouse...sounds like possibly a faulty receiver?

dittono problems and mine are definitely operating on different channels : the manuals says as much for correct operation.

Try moving the reciever up higher.

    Thanks (and the other replies).

Once I have taught the receiver from one device it simply refuses to learn from the other if it is not on the same channel. I can hold it 6 inches from the receiver - makes no difference.

The part number on the receiver is AS00216-001E, could you (or anyone) confirm they have the same?

You press the channel button on either device for 2 seconds. That changes it to the next channel and automatically tells the receiver (if it is powered). They recommend not to use adjacent channels so you should do it twice.

If the other device no longer works you have the same problem as me.

    Well Gyration

    Didn't answer my emails.

Didn't call back when their support line asked me to leave a number.

Did make me listen to Sade for 40 miuntes at transatlantic rates.

Took about 15 seconds to diagnose the problem.

"I can't make the keyboard and mouse work on different channels"

    "The receiver is defective"

    "I should return it?"

    "Yes"

    Sounds like a common problem.

    Hi BertG,

I sell these things and recently had a customer in the UK with exactly the same problem as you.

Gyration sent them a new receiver and now everyrthing works splendid.

Get the person you bought it from to give Gyration some hassle and it will get sorted!!!!
