I am a gym owner with a space of 5,000 square feet. It is a rectangular space with 20' ceilings. For the past 2 years, I have been using a home theater Denon Receiver to power some small sony speakers designed for home use. I now have some working capital and would like to install a legitimate sound system that can stand up to 8 hours of fairly heavy use (loud music) throughout the day. I am seeking any general advice, but here are some specific questions that may or not be irrelevant based on your input:

    1) Can I use a 2-channel amp with 2 speakers for a space that size? (50'x100')
    2) Is it acceptable to power 4 speakers off of a 2-channel amp?
    3) What size amp do I require?
    4) What are good speaker options for use in a gym environment?

Thanks so much for all your input!!!

    Dan

I ha a 3000sq ft cafe and I had some in ceiling speakers fitted relatively cheap ones and I just ran them from a bog standard hifi unit hidden in a cupboard. Worked no problem at all for creating a nice ambient sound. The question is can you get access into your ceiling for wiring purposes? Is it a dropped false ceiling? If so perfect.
