Does anyone know if the 'GUIDE Plus+' programme scheduler that comes with the Philips DVDR80 etc. works on UK NTL cable? As I am sick of buying features that don't work in the UK.
    Appreciate your views.

    Hi
I have just bought a Philips with Guide Plus+ and i am
waiting for it to be delivered, I am also UK NTL.
Anyway I was looking through the internet and
found this site which gives info on Philips DVDR80 and guide Plus+.
    Here it is : http://www.redremote.co.uk/dvdr80.html

Hope this can help you out.

Yep extremly annoying i have a DVDR80 and couldn't use guide plus beacuse of the way cable boxes use ir. Most of the boxes use a non standard IR signal which is incompatable with the philips system (uses something simialr to the pc data transfer ir system).
I believe there maybe one box out there that actauly uses a proper ir signal and thus work but this will probably have other flaws. You can get that redeye thing which converts but it is another £30 or so.

I've been using GUIDE Plus+ on analogue NTL for over a year without problem. However, this only gives the schedule for the terrestrial channels.

I've been considering upgrading to digital but want to ensure I won't lose GUIDE Plus+ (coz it's just so handy and easy to use)... if anyone knows if it works on digital I'd love to hear...

RE run through the setup and select a digital set top box, this should give you all the channels that box can receive (at least in theory).

Do you know if you have to have EUROSport as a subscribed channel in order to get the GUIDE Plus+ schedule?
