Hi I'm new to the video editing arena & could do with some guidance on editing software. I'm currently experimenting with video capture. Although I did look at the Pinnacle 'Dazzle' range of capture devices, I decided to try using my DV camcorder (JVC GR-D70) and it seems to work nicely, although I've yet to edit anything and burn it to DVD. As well as the obvious DV camcorder footage, I've also managed to capture video from my old analogue camcorder, std VCR and some stuff from my Sky+ hard drive. I did get a switchable scart adapter as it appears the one I got with DV camcorder only plays one way? I didn't even know that could happen ! I also got hold of 'Monster' camcorder cable from eBay, rather than using the cable provided, as I believe S-Video is supposed to be better quality. I've now done some sample captures using Vision Express 2, Movie Maker and a free utility called WinDV (http://windv.mourek.cz). WinDV seems to be good and promises no dropped frames during the capture as it uses buffering. Now I need to edit & create a DVD. I was about to go with Pinnacle Studio 9 but I've seen some really bad user reviews, too many I think to be purely user error or inexperience perhaps? I'm now looking at Adobe Premiere Elements. Any pointers / advice would be most gratefully received, as so far, progress has been painfully slow and I don't want to waste time & money on poor software. If you're still awake, apologies for the long post Thanks.
