    grabbed box, went to till..
Staff: "sorry sir, this games not released till tomorrow"..
Me: "sorry, but if it's not for sale, why is every single copy, on the NEW RELEASE section priced up with the price, if its NOT for sale??"
Staff: "so we can let everyone know how much it is"..
Me: "But leagally, if it's on the shelve with a price on it, its for sale?? is it not"
Staff: "sorry sir, this games not released till tomorrow"..

It's not legally for sale if it's out with a price. That's just display. They could easily have just said 'Out of stock'. Would you have complained as much then?

Ordered this from Tesco's for £23.61, let's see if it arrives by the weekend, which would be nice as I'm going away for a long weekend!

I've been playing it quite a bit since Saturday too. It's a great game and has transferred successfully onto the PSP.

Anyone know what price HMV, game and Dixons (in store) are charging for this. I know what the web price is, but I am off to London (vistoria station) tonight, and might have to call by these stores if it is at a reasonable price, i.e. around £30, and not the £40 being advertised elsewhere.

    Cheers

    Ricky

I guess game are charging £39.99 looking at the above post, what about the other 2.

the load time is very reasonable , about 10-15 seconds initially and then that s about it really , same again if going to another island. really the load times are not a problem

Nice to hear that bigred - I've heard that there's loads of forced save points througout the game - does that detract from gameplay?

Very good actually. Only had a brief play, but it worked really well. If it was Vice City Stories, I wouldn't be selling my PSP!

not sure what you mean by forced save points ........ its a similar system to previous gta games, you have a safe house where you can change costumes, get health and save , there appears to be only one safe house per island so there is a lot of driving to and from the safe houses , fter every mission which does get a wee bit annoying , the ability to save at any time would have made more sense for a portable game........i'm flying to seattle tomorrow , guess what i'll be playing for part of the flight !!!! GTA on the go , its so cool !!!!!

It is a great game, it's just that I've had to go back to when I first played GTA3, no swimming, no ablity to climb over walls, but either way it's great.

I was originally going to wait until nearer christmas before picking this up, but seeing it on the shelf proved too much of a temptation

An absolutely cracking game, they have done an A+ job getting this onto the PSP. The game runs really well, with the same detail levels that are on the PS2, but everything just seems extra cool because it on a handheld . . . . . GTA IS ON A HANDHELD

I would advise all PSP owners that are of course over 18 to get down the stores and pick this up today. The best PSP game so far . . . . . :smashin:

You do know that GTA has been on a handheld B4, don't you Gizmo76?

It did come out on the GBA the same day when San Andreas came out on PS2.

Needless to say it wasn't anything like the PSP update, because it went back to the top-down view.

I've been playing the game for a couple of hours now and Rockstar have done well in getting it across to the PSP but there are a few annoyances:

    1) The slight pause when you get in/out of a car due to audio accessing is annoying and messes up the 'flow' of the game.

    2) Framerate issues, some of the races are virtually unplayable due to the huge amount of slowdown that occurs when there is too much going on onscreen.

    3) Easy cops - Until you hit about 4 stars the cops don't even seem to wake up.

    4) Boring missions with no depth or variety that swing between walk in the park and rock and a hard place.

But apart from that its quite a good game and is a unique experience for PSP gamers. Loading times are impressive (esp. in comparision to the home versions), custom soundtracks are great (mainly because the ingame music is lame), graphics look really nice (apart from the PS2 motion blur technique that is used) and its a pretty solid game overall.

I'd rate it at 8/10 - Let's hope that the new GTA release in 2006 is GTA:San Andreas Stories :)

went to the shops planning to buy this and its £40 everywhere! Yes its probably the psp's biggest release so far but thats nuts, especially as the last two gta's on ps2 rtailed on release at £30. I'm gonna hold off buying it for now as I'm having too much fun replaying super metroid. After that maybe I'll reconsider or I may take a deep breath and commit myself to a snes rpg for a few weeks (ff6, mario rpg or ff5, hmm decisions decisions).

Seriously tho i dont think i'm being tight in not buying gta for £40 however technically grand it is. Might check out tesco's later they often undercut the mainstream game shops.

You lucky bugger, I had an email from Asda saying they are awaiting new stock to arrive next week :(

BTW, is it right that the UK version asks requires you to update to v2.5 as opposed to the US version needing v.2.0?

I'm a tad concerned as I'm pretty sure the downgrader is only for v2.0 - v1.5
Would be great if someone could give me some confirmation on this.

    Cheers,

    Lee.

His excellent point is that Sony's rrp for PSP games is £35.

Online practically all PSP games are £30, with only high street stores selling at the £35. But for GTA, the £40 high street price is nothing more than exploitation and extortion

    lol
