Apart from shape is there a difference between the grundig 1000 and 1500? (£70 and £100 respectively)

No - though the 1000 seems to run cooler as there's more space in the box. Where did you find it at £70?

The square Grundig looks great and has a good spec.

But what are the dimensions?

The Grundig has been discontinued, there is a new box branded Thomson that has taken it's place, and it's pretty much the same innards but looks a bit nicer from the outside.

How can it be discontinued, they've only just bought it out haven't they and it's still on their web-site?

Where have you seen the Thomson and have you got a pic?

The Thomson is available at John Lewis (when they have it in stock) and Comet and the bbc shop at £99. It's a bit slimmer than the Grundig but it still has all the same connections.
