I've been looking for months at various Plasma models across various price ranges and finally bought this Grundig Elegance 42 PXW 110-9625 unit for 999 euro from iBood.com.
Its 1080i/720p capable and at 42 inches is fine for my needs.

Its connected to my SD Sky Digital and my standard DVD player and picture quality out of the box is fantastic to my eye.

But I wondered if anyone knows anything about this model and any settings I could/should use to run it in or fine tune it.

Also the manuals were in about 20 languages EXCLUDING english so although I found my way around the menus I would like to get my hands on an english language manual.

Can anyone offer any help or advise? :lease:

    bumpety bump...

Just an update...Grundig web site redirected me to a document archival company for old / end of life product but they also did not have an english manual...

TV is great so far and menu's are easy to navigate but would like to get the owners manual in English language if it exists.

Cant believe I'm the only person in the english speaking world who bought one of these TV's.... :lease:

I've found English manuals for Grundig at

    www.grundig.com

    Next select: Downloads -> Manuals

On the next page fiil-up personal form

On the next page fill-up model number (only number, not signature).

    My questions about quality:

    How good black is?
    How good picture move is?

    ArtS :)

    Update:

Came across a PDF version of the technical service manual on the web for this product, stamped for internal use only...
It lists service menu's and settings and also sparepart partnumbers.

Was chuffed to the see it contains a Panasonic 42 inch plasma screen as one of its components...

    If it's a Panasonic screen that's a good sign...

Note Grundig is part of the Alba-Beko collaboration (though it seems Alba may have sold their bit to Beko). You might be able to get some additional info from Alba http://www.albaplc.com/html/home.htm

Same parent company as brands such as Bush and Goodmans. Note the current Grundig is totally different than the original German Grundig (and the Phillips controlled Grundig).

Here'a a strange one...I had my Oppo 983 conncted to an Infocus X10 at 1080P/60Hz the other night...A few days later I connected it back to my 42 inch Plasma TV and forgot to change the output resolution.
Guess what...The display accepted 1080P @ 60Hz...And displayed it fine.

    Yet its rated as a 1024 x 768 @ 60Hz native resolution plasma.
I have tried [email protected] in the past and sure enough all I got on screen was garbage. [email protected] displays ok from SKYHD.

So why would it accept and more importantly display the [email protected] signal?

    Wierd !!!
