Saw the excellent Grundig again at the weekend, lovely LCD (Component input but no SCART). Currys in the 'wisdom' have now bundled it with a DVD Player which has, wait for it, SCART but no component. :( Muppets.

That sounds about right for them. When I went to check out the Grundig in Currys I asked them to connect up a DVD player with component video they didn't have one such player on their shelves! D'oh!

If you can live without RGB go for the Relysis. Got mine on the weekend and component DVD looks superb on it. About £250 cheaper too!!

    Hi TB,

Yes that would be my advice, too. The Relisys has got some excellent reviews and IMHO is much better value than the Grundig.

    Hi,

Do you know whether the Grundig can accept progressive scan on component as the Relisys doesn't....

    Cheers,

    Hi ZeroCool,

Stoomonster tested PAL and NTSC PS on his Grundig and unfortunately it didn't work, but interlaced is excellent anyway.

Damn, I thought this thread was to be an entertaining anecdote about the consequences of drunkenly spilling vindaloo all over a shiny new LCD monitor :(

Exactly so. I had Star Wars AOTC running through my Sony DVPNS900 (Which you could pick up second hand with the money your saving from the Grundig) through component RGB and the picture was fantastic.....better than my 100 Hz Panny 28" Widescreen. No blurring at all on the pod racing scene. I've seen the Grundig showing XXX (the Vin Diesel film!!!) and there was definite blurring during fast scenes.
