hi guys, im a total noob on here, so please take it easy

i have recently got a grundig dv3 digibox from a friend who has now got sky installed, i have set it all up, and im getting near perfect audio, but the picture is either as blocky as hell (which just stays the same for about 10 secs) or non existant. However, when i bring up the setup info / channel guide etc, they are crystal clear. I have connected my areial to the digi box, and connected a scart from the box (tv slot) to the telly (av1), to double check, i also ran a second aerial cable from box to tv, but this didnt change anything. i have d/loaded the latest version of something, and tried to auto retune - but nothing.

im wondering if its because my mate lived in scotland, and i live in newcastle - that it may just not setup for my area properly? but like i say, im a total noob :suicide:

any ideas as to what im doing wrong would be greatly appreciated :lease:

Do you live in a Freeview reception area........input your postcode at http://www.dtg.org.uk/consumer/coverage.html and that will tell you your local coverage.
Blocky pics and the picture freezing on-screen are symptoms of a weak signal/poor reception.

thanks for the reply, i tried that site and it said that it is avialable through 3 suppliers, freeview, top up tv, sky or telewest.

do i have to affiliate with freeview / top up tv some how?

also, there is a socket on the back of the box (not unlike a phone socket) does anything need to go in to this, as this is the only thing that i dont have a connection for??

thanks again

Johno.

No, that is just telling you the 4 methods of receiving digital TV at your postcode.
Freeview (the box you have), TopupTV (Basically just the same as Freeview but you have to have a digibox with a card-slot and gives you extra channels for £7.99 a month), Sky (Dish required) and Telewest (Cable TV).

No, you do not have to plug anything in here.
Go into the menu and if you have a "Store Channels" option select that...this will rescan and find all available signals from your local transmitter.
If you still get "blocky" or pic break-up you have a weak aerial signal and would need to call in an aerial engineer to get that seen to.

Good luck.
Good luck
