Play posted it to me on the 6th, other DVDs ordered at the same time arrived. Gonna phone them tomorrow and cry. Anyone experiecned massive delays with play? I phoned them and they said it had definitely been posted. If it's missing will mean I have to wait for ages!

Can't believe movietyme are doing it for 6 quid now. If I have to wait I'm orering another one.

    Alex,

Doesn't matter if something ships on the same day mate.

I have experienced delays of up to 2 weeks on items that have shipped the same day. One arrived after 4 or 5 days. The other 2 weeks after that.

    Don't worry yet :)

All the Etailers I usually deal with manage it for free in 24 hours, 48 at the most. I'll think twice about buying from play again.

Play are pretty reliable. they are also very good with replacing items that go missing.

And I've been finding that most of their R1's are Canadian :( Also they now send a confirmation email when you order R1's to say it's been dispatched. Which is nice :)

Phew. For a minute there I thought you were going to be one of those people who refuses to buy Canadian R1s because of the French writing on the covers. Then I would have to stop talking to you for being so silly. Luckily you're not though ;) :D

no not the cover. I have tons of dvds from germany and france and belgium and whatever and they all have different writings on them so french is not a problem and in some cases I can always do my own coverson paintshoppro.
what I always fear about canadian DVDs is that they drop some features and or change the soundtracks (dropping DTS english for frenchDD) in order to accomodate for the obligatory french. remember MonstersInc CanR1 which lost the FX track due to french 5.1. not that it's a problem for me as I got the UKR2 with DTS.

As I'm pretty new to R1 what are the general rules for canadian dvds. I knwo that allianceatlantis takes Newline DVDs and just replaces the english2.0 with french2.0. fair enough. what's with the quality of the discs do those remain the same?
    cheers

The SFX track being lost on the Canadian R1 of Monsters Inc was a rarity. It didn't bother me personally anyway as I would never listen to it and I certainly wouldn't have paid more for a US R1 just for that.

There are a few Canadian R1s that are BETTER than the US R1s, e.g. Good Will Hunting - it's only anamorphic on the Canadian R1.

Generally, Canadian R1s and US R1s are the same, apart from the covers and the additional soundtracks on the Canadian release.

Fair enough if they come from Belgium, but I ordered Bring It On R1 on the same day and that's here. Will wait a little longer and see what happens but I'm not impressed with this delivery wait. I thought the days of 'please allow 28 days for delivery' were long gone.

The Belgian postal services aren't the quickest in the world.
And they don't seem to be getting any better lately...

Parcels get randomly picked for customs inspections as well, so that's often the cause of many delays.

I have a delayed parcel at the moment, also posted on the same date as Alex's parcel (6th Jan) so perhaps they took a few from the same bag. I'm not worried yet :)

But if it gets posted from inside the EU to another EU country that shouldn't be a problem.
I got books from amazon.co.uk to luxembourg worth over 60quid and it only tookem 3-4days.

Yeah that's true. What am I talking about?! :D Maybe they pick them at random to x-ray them or something!

I have had delays before though, even when stuff has been posted on the same day. I certainly wouldn't worry about something being posted on the 6th and not having arrived yet. And I certainly wouldn't be blaming the retailer. Once it's posted, it's the mail services fault.
