Great room & setup Groove! Gonna have a go at a similar project this week. Gonna paint the back wall, then wallpaper the floating wall and mount a long 2.1 soundbar (6.1 in HC Room downstairs) just below the TV (red / black Sammy 40" 1080P). Thinking of going with a red ropelight to match TV? Room will be finished off with some Indian Sheesham Wood Furniture August time.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

    Groove,

that is an impressive thread. Nice work.

Can I ask you one question (sorry if it has been asked before)? Where did you source this black furniture underneath the tely? That looks nice and would fit nicely with my ideas of upgrading my living room.

    Kind regards

    Jens

Not sure if Groove is still reading this thread. The units are from Ikea. Besta range I believe.

    Thanks Scatterbug,

I should have not underestimated the looks of Ikea. I just came recently across a German company (Spektral) and I absolutely loved their stuff until I saw the price list. A little TV unit sets you back a minimum of 2.5K and something larger what I have in mind is easily 5K which is above my budget atm.

Groove, got a link to the dimmable rope lighting and fixing kit?

Also, how did you affix the timber frame to the wall and what size timbers did you use mainly.

    Thanks,

I have just read through every page of this thread and it's been a fantastic job. Certainly inspired me for when I move into my first house (hopefully before the end of the year )

Would like to know if anyone elses rope lights have failed?

Mine has many leds burnt out and one section of about 10 leds which flashes on/off :(

Its only been setup for about 18 months and doesn't get used many hours each week, I really thought they would last longer than they have.

Just to let you know that i'm on my 3rd set of ropelights in 18 months.:thumbsdow Previous sets, nearly all the lights turned brown. Got about 8 months per set. Mine are plugged in wall socket with no dimmer, and on for an average 6 hours a day.

My rope lights failed at 11 months although they were used a fair bit. I replaced them with the same but while in TLC direct noticed they do the same thing with LEDS so as i dont use a dimmer I will be trying those next.

    Hi all,
forgot to mention that first 2 sets of rope lights came from TLC, but 3rd set came from Here and a lot cheaper.

    Tankrs

These lights are same size and use same power connection, so if like me you haven't used glue at ends you wont need to buy new power connection.
