GROM sauce

Active Member
My wife and I are HUGE Wallace and Gromit fans.

We also enjoy the occassional Fillet Steak dinner served rare with home-made GROM sauce....

Red Wine

Slice the mushrooms and onions.
Cook over heat till the mushrooms and onions shrink down in size.

Add the garlic and red wine and stir in.

Keep stiring and allow the sauce to thicken and simmer.

No other ingedients necessary. The red wine will thicken eventually. Never use corn-flour to thicken.

Thanks for that, I'll try it with the next fillet on the table :)

Last one I had I took single cream and stirred it into the pan which the fillet had just come from. After it had soaked up the colour and the juices from the steaks I melted blue cheese into it.

Once thickened poured over steaks even those who normally don't touch blue cheese with a barge pole gave it the big thumbs up

Yes, A slice of Blue Stilton over the Steak under the grill about 30 seconds before serving is another favourite of mine.
