Hi all,
I have a tech question regarding putting some WD Green drives into a NAS drive, which uses RAID 1.
A while ago I contacted Buffalo tech support regarding swapping drives, and was told straight down NOT to use any Green drives in any of their products, in particular ones which are RAIDed and are NAS - because the drive is designed to spin down after 8 seconds - therefore this isnt what you want in an up and running network drive - and especially not ideal for RAID.
I now have a different NAS drive, and unfortunately it has 2 Green drives in it (not standard fit) - and Im wondering if its worth swapping these out, based on what Buffalo tech support told me....
Can anyone comment?
Basically....are Green drives ok to use in a RAIDed NAS array that will be switched on 24/7
Thank you
