Sounds like you have a 'purity' error. Caused by the earths magnetic field interacting with the electron beam deflection within the crt. Should be cured by the auto-degauss coils fitted in every tv set. If it doesn't then most likely causes could be
    1. The degauss coils are not working (unlikely)
    2. You've either moved the tv set or moved something with a strong magnetic field close to the tv set (speakers etc - have you moved some close to the tv recently ?)
    3. The deflection yoke or purity magnetic rings have moved in relation to the neck of the crt (unlikey since they are glued/gooped up after setting in the factory)
    4. You may need to degauss (ie, de-magnetise) the face plate of the crt. Unlikely you would have a degauss coil in the average viewers home so you might have to obtain one from somewhere - can't suggest where the 'man in the street' would buy one from - and you would have to take reeasonable care in doing it for frear of distorting the shadowmask of behind the faceplate. regards, yt.
