Surely the achievements side of things is optional isn't it?

Just can't be bothered with the 360's version, thought i'd get the ps3 version instead. As I find I may just play it for the achievements.

Each to their own I guess, but surely the achievements are a good thing? They dont cost any extra, they are totally optional, and if/when you get bored of the game they add longevity. For me it's the reason I would buy the 360 version (that and rumble and the online side of things).

I'm just interested in playing the game online and already own the 360 version. Its a cracking game, a little short on single player but the 20 maps of multiplayer and the co-op missions are superb. The only snag is the graphical detail (?) in the maps tends to lead to a lot of drop-outs as our connections just can't seem to cope with it. I've lost count of the number of times I've dropped playing this, it kinda spoils it.

If the PS3 version is as tight with lag free 16 (or 32  ) lobbies that would be worth the price for me to be honest.

I'll definitely keep my eye on this one.

Has there been any reviews for GRAW:2 been posted yet for the PS3 version?

I see Amazon have it dated for the 22nd June - does anyone have a definitive date?

beleive me this DEFINITELY isn't coming out June 1st! More like September or even later.

Ubisoft have a very bad history for "estimated" release dates.

Also Rainbow 6 Vegas has been delayed for the 700th time:mad: .....and now it has a similiar release date to GRAW. Its highly unlikely they are gonna release two of their major games back to back..that wouldn't be too clever!

Man PS3 is running dry on new and good games :(

Was beginning to think it wouldn't be June....Oh well - don't you just love the post console release blues - coupled with the perennial summer drought - could be a long summer.

Time to revisit a few PS2 games to tied me over - GoW:2 for starters me thinks...

Its not a case of not liking them, its more to do with not really using them as a reason to buy a certain game. If GRAW2 on PS3 has better graphics and online play and the only thing the X360 version has extra is rumble and acheivements I'd pick the PS3 version because graphics and gameplay are more important to me than acheivements.

I certainly would not use acheivement as a reason not to get the X360 version of GRAW 2. Like you say acheivements are optional and can be ignored.

Personally I agree with Monkeyspoon, achievments are just a way of saying "mines bigger than yours!", I don't like getting messages from whiney yanks telling me that they're better than me because they have more gamer points or because they got an achievment for doing a backflip through a ring of fire without burning a single hair.

The 360 version of GRAW2 was released months ago. Anyone with both consoles would have played the game by now. Oh, and that's a pretty big "If" you've thrown in there.

I guess it is a personal preference thing but if an identical game is released on both consoles at the same time, the Achievement system is one thing that gives the 360 version the edge. Live and rumble are two others.

Admit it, you're excited about PS3 Trophies.

Well apparently Ubisoft have just announced that the PS3 version will have some extra features:

    Ubisoft.
The Ghosts now on Playstation 3. Following the award winning 2005 Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (GRAW), Ubisoft brings the sequel GRAW2, with additional content, to the PS3.

You are the Soldier of the Future 2.0. All systems have been upgraded to give you more power and control on the battlefield. Following the failure of the “coup d’etat” in Mexico City Mexican rebels have gathered their remaining forces along the US border. Lead your team of elite Special Forces for the first time on US soil - straddling the border between Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, Texas. The Ghosts have less than 72 hours to stop a nuclear attack. You are the last line of defense and must do what it takes to be victorious.
    Key Differences:

Six Axis features : Controller features used for Mitchell & Cross-com control

SP : Drive the supports (drone, M.U.LE) with the Six Axis functionality

SP/MP : Change Mitchell stances with the Six Axis

SP : change the Rules of Engagement with the Six Axis
Consistency increased between SP & MP: Scope, Movement, Aiming…

PS3 specifics adaptation of controls: Menus, Shoot button…

14 additional maps resulting in a total of 32 MP maps!!!

    Multiplayer Additional Information

32 new adversarial multiplayer maps up to 16 players, an expanded arsenal of multinational weapons, character customization options, new optimizing re-spawn system, new female operatives and hundreds of new game mode options are available.

2 new coop modes, “Evasion” and “Exfiltration”, to vary the game experience in multiplayer.

6 missions co-op campaign with a fully immersive experience and storyline. Featuring open-ended play that rewards teamwork as you play with up to sixteen players.

indeed the PS3 version should get bonus features considering the long delay we face...

Oh and i agree with you on those points Monkey but thats not what you were saying about Acheivements a few weeks ago in your various threads

Ofcourse if the PS3 version was better id buy it, My point was and still is now is that all things being equal id buy the 360 version for the far better Live service and acheviements.

I beg to differ, for me the SIXAXIS gives the PS3 version the edge (GRAW 2 on PS3 is going to utilise the SIXAXIS tilt). Achievement points do nothing for me (although maybe a little sense of achievement as you play through a game). But I want to play a game because it's fun, not becuase I feel I have to increase my achievement points! Plus - the biggest point for me is - PS3 is far quieter when playing.

Again, rumble - yeah OK it might add a little something when it works. But in GRAW 1 on the 360 the rumble was on when in the personnel carrier but not in the helicopter and then it was hit and miss whilst playing. Can easily do with out it.

I'm downloading it right now and am at about 55%. I'll see what happens when I try to install it after it has finished downloading.

The demo installed fine for me. There is also someone who posted in the main PSN Weekly Update thread that said it installed for them.
