dont go for nvidia in this price rangne imo. get a 2nd hand 9800 or new if there is offers on and for that price and will be the best bang for buck card out there at the moment bar the 6800GT. All my opinion of course as ive had 1st hand experience with 9800 :)

Edit make sure it isnt a 9800SE. they suck !!! 9800 pro will do nicely

i see u put a 5900 in there and that is the same level as 9800 price wise but is no where near as good as the 9800. im sure others will back me up or hence call me ati fan boy and laugh  even tho i own a nvidia so no biased opinions here !!!!

yep, thats right, the 9800 pro is terrific value for money at the moment as it can be picked up from under £100 but give the 5900 a miss as it fares pretty poorly against the 9800.
Its definitely worth checking out both ati's and nvidias new range of budget cards, particularly the nvidia 6600 range which boasts some impressive benchmarks.

i dont really think he will need to look at the 6600 as its PCI-E and the agp version isnt available as far as im aware, and unless he bought his mobo within the past 6months that card would be prettty usless. if his budget is 100 and he says he wont be avidly gaming the 9800pro is the right card for him in my opinion

If you stopped letting your girl go on these shopping trips to the USA you could afford a better card. :D

There is a OEM version of the card here for £126.84

just ordered the Evesham Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR AGP from lowest on the web should be here on mon/tues will this card let me play games like halo
on more or less full settings i borowed my matesGeforce FX 5700 / LE 256 and to be honest there was hardly much of a improvement over my geforce 2.is it a case of that graphics card was pap (hopefully the 9800 pro wont be) or is it now a case of my processor holding me back .my mother board is a ecs k7s5a (quite old i know ) i can update to a Athlon XP- 2600 running at 266mhz dont think the motherboard will take any more.if i update to a xp 2600 will i see a improvement or will it be that small i wont notice .or should i wait a bit and buy new motherboard with 64 bit chip

thanks to every1 whos replied all help apreciated
