I have just put GRAW in, not even played it yet, I just let it stay on the initial screen where it says to "press start" and I waited for the full trailer to come on. When I am watching it I seem to see some graphical tearing or V-Sync issues or something similar with the picture sort of flickering at certain points. I had seen this when watching trailers of the game over the net but I didnt think it would actually be in the game!

My tv is a Panasonic 26" LCD HDTV and I have not had any problems with it so dont really think its that.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar? I have only noticed this on GRAW? I think I could even see it a little when you first put the disc in and the Ubisoft logo comes on.

    Any help would be appreciated?

    Thanks

Cheers mate, I thought I had a problem with my system at first!

Its a shame there are bugs like that though in the game but hopefully they can be resolved with a patch! :D

It only happens on PAL 50 on my (non Hi-Def) TV, when I switch my 360 to PAL 60 it's fine.

I know it shouldn't make a difference if you running HD but switch back to SD and change the SD setting to PAL-60 then switch back to HD.

May work and you need to do this for the outfit demo!

Is it as bad as the v-sync issues in PDZ??
I hope not, as it totally ruined PDZ for me.

Yep, I've noticed this game has tearing, which is very, very bad at times when there's a lot of polygons on screen and the framerate isn't too great either and feels a little stodgy. Also objects noticeably pop into view when looking round corners for some weird reason and you and your teammates can walk through each other (well you are a Ghost I suppose!!!). Add some shockingly lo-res textures, a lack of bump-mapping and some disturbingly lo-res window reflections that show scenery that isn't there and the graphics lose a lot of their greatness. Shame really.

A great game bar the appalling A.I. albeit a slightly disappointing one. It's a shame that the game feels a little unpolished due to the graphical bugs.

Also to top it all if you play the game in component video 720p the image is zoomed in too far, losing part of the onscreen HUD! Switch to VGA at the same resolution (1280x720) and you get the screen as it should be with the HUD entirely visible!

I can't help feeling that this game was rushed out despite the fact it's four months late.

Heh - I think you'll find this depends on a massive number of factors.

Good not just me, running VGA on an Acer AL1916W and the tearing is awful. I even get tearing on the ubisoft logo when it comes on to screen when the game starts!!

I has ruined the game a bit for me as i keep getting distracted by the tearing. I was going to plug it in to my Panasonic CRT andd run at 480p to see if this helps, I'm not to to hopeful.

I've got to say it's very disappointing this tearing issue because as good as the graphics are the tearing completely ruins the immersion because it's a constant reminder that you're playing a game. That might sound daft but when graphics are getting this good anything like this is unforgiveable. Strange how none of the reviews mention it isn't it....
I just hope Far Cry (another Ubi title) doesn't suffer from the same problem! Does anyone actually have an explanation for why this is happening, it can't be a limitation of the hardware or every game would do it but I can't for the life of me understand why developers would spend this long on a game and leave something is obvious as this in the finished product. I'd love to hear Peter Moore's explanation for it that's for sure!

Isnt holding a control pad and sitting in front of the tv a constant reminder too? :p

I havent noticed the tearing, the jerkiness on the chopper I noticed though, cant say it bothered me too much.

    Yep, I agree.

Just completed it on normal and am now halfway though hard and on every single level there is always frequent video tearing.

When I brought the game I was honestly hoping that the game would be locked at 30fps (much like Kameo even when theres thousands of enemies on screen) but I guess due to the insane draw-distance in the end this wasn't possible.

In the end I am slightly dissapointed with this and although it is good, I personally think that it is overhyped when every website is stating the graphics to be trully 'next-gen'.

I honestly hope Gears Of War will have a rock solid framerate, decent anisotropic filtering (no blurry textures) and no video tearing.

As i hadnt played other Ghost Recon games ive found it very hard to get into. Especially with the graphic issues, they really do bug me.

Burnout revenge looks fantastic compared to it i think.

GRAW is going on ebay and Far Cry is on Pre Order :)

Like Megaman2005 said, If you notice the graphics tearing you aint playing the game right. Personally when I'm trapped on the corner of a building with the targeting computer turned off playing cat and mouse with a boat load of mexican rebels, with bullets whizzing past my head and blowing lumps out of the concrete next to me, one bullet away from death and back to a savepoint I'm not really thinking F**kin hell the graphics are tearing a bit.

Very strange - I was very aware of tearing in PDZ, but I have not witnessed any tearing at all in GRAW, even on the opening video. Nor have I noticed any framerate issues or jerkiness? Even the opening video was silky smooth - unlike the one in COD2 for example...

Is this an LCD only thing? For reference I'm using the official VGA cable on a Panasonic 42pv500 with console set to PAL60 and res set to 1024x768.

    Love this game

Totally agree with all of that. It is heart wrenching to see such a fantastic intro, completly ruined by some appauling tearing.

Yes the screen tearing is a bit of a [DELETED], but could you imagine if they released this on the Xbox 360 Launch date. God knows what would happen, but it [DELETED] me off to know i have paid £40 for a half finished game, how Ubi released this game is beyond belief.

Is anyone with a DLP or Plasma having this problem??

DAMN - Just got past the first level and the helicopter ride once youve got to the roof is really jerky, especially if you move you head while in it.

And when shooting from the helicopter its really bad too :(

Any one else noticed this? :(

Yeah, i get really bad dropped frames during the Ubisoft intro when the game is first booted.

I also noticed dropped frames now and again during game play, so i changed to SD mode and selected Pal 50 which seems to have made the gameplay better but the intro is still very choppy.

I've been experiencing it lately aswell, also some frame rate drops when accessing the Xbox guide. Sometimes my console freezes and i have to restart.

This game has too many issues. How could it even been released?

"Adding to the destructible environment and excellent views (by the way, there is no pop-up or pop-in of any kind to be seen) is the incredible lighting. Every surface is normal or bump mapped and the texture work is exceptional"

I think these guys must have played a different version of the game to what I'm playing because there is pop-up in the game in the way of objects appearing as you turn around a corner quickly and as for every surface being normal/bump-mapped, this is so far from the truth. Of all the 360 titles, this game uses some of the very least normal/bump-maps I have seen and I can't don't agree the texture work being exceptional either.

Check out Condemned and Kameo for great use of normal-maps and bump-maps and lighting.
