Good afternoon, hope everyone is having a great day and enjoyed their summer. I was recently given the option to purchase a 3080ti from a retailer and took up the oppurtunity.
Current GPU - PNY 2080ti XLR8 purchased from AVforums a few years ago
New GPU - EVGA 3080ti FTW3 Ultra purchased from retailer

Usage - gaming basically across 3 2k screens at 144hz when possible

I would just like to ask what would be peoples advice/experience when upgrading from 20 series to a 30 series. Is the jump really that massive especially with the cards listed. I have been looking at reviews on youtube however was wondering if I could get AVforums opinion

What price could the 2080ti fetch in the current market? eBay is providing me with around £800 but can rise depending on the buyer.

Originally had not considered purchasing a 30 series however after recovering from Covid I felt I needed a quick pick me up to get my energy back up and to give me that mental pick me up :)

Thanks for reading hope you are all staying safe

benchmarks tend to show these kinds of gain - 2080ti is pretty good so its not huge around 20fps ish

@1440p

Cyberpunk 2077
2080ti 3080 Ti
74 fps 94fps

watchdog Legions
2080ti 3080 Ti
73 fps 95fps

Assassins Creed Valhalla
2080ti 3080 Ti
64 fps 82fps

At 4K that 20fps is similar and is the difference between 45fps and 60fps so where is counts more.

Sounds like you could use the extra horse power given your current use case.

If you really want the upgrade, go for it. It's an expensive card but the money you could get for your 2080 ti might cover most of the cost of the 3080ti.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Yeah I mean initally I was happy with the 2080ti but getting a 30 series for msrp was definatley an oppurtunity I couldnt pass on. I mean worst comes to worst I just return the 30 series card and get the monies back however just wanted to ask around to see what my options are. obviously i could resell but i am not into that.
i think it would be at least £400 difference if im lucky which i feel in this current market isnt too bad but its just is the jump really massively worth

yeah so when i get 4k 240hz thats probably where i would see the difference even then its nothing major xD
yeah the 2080ti hasnt really seen many drops below 60 apart from f1 2021 with 3 monitors

At 144hz running a 3080ti you will definitely notice the difference. I have a similar system and planned to upgrade as you have before the GPU madness started, and I only regret not doing so soon after they were released.
