come on guys whats the best soundbar on the market at the moment?
Whats your budget?
Could you get something like the Wharfedale Diamond LCR?
Even the best soundbar is not going to sound anywhere near as good as your current speakers. Why do you need to get rid of them? Could you get something like the Monitor Audio Apex range of speakers?
the best i`ve ever heard are these
forget the speakers you have already as well
Try the new Yamaha sound bar.
Sevenoaks Sound and Vision - Yamaha YSP-2200
Digital Sound Projector
(Save £70)
Had a listen to one recently and sounded very good indeed!
You could also consider in-wall / in ceiling speakers if its a space/cosmetic issue?
The triad mini lcr 3.0 should be very good (I've got the mini lcr's) but might be expensive depending on your budget. Also it's literally just the front 3 speakers in a single enclosure do you'll still need an amp. But they're hand made to order and can be sized to fit your tv.
any prices for these?
Let's figure out what you are really trying to do here.
Are you replacing your entire audio system with a active sound bar? That is probably the most common type, connect the BluRay by HDMI to the active sound bar, and get some approximation of surround sound.
Alternately, if you intend to keep your existing Surround Sound amp, then you need a passive sound bar. Of which there are few, and some of which are expensive.
So, what do you intend to do, and what is your budget to accomplish the task?
I know in the Quad L-ite series, which are pretty good speakers, there is a passive sound bar that combines the Quad Lite front and center speakers together. Not sure of the price though, you would have to contact a Quad dealer and special order.
The Wharfedale Diamond 10 series combines the Diamond 10.0 fronts and the Diamond 10.CC into a singly unit, and it is very affordable.
In active sound bars, probably the most readily available are the Yamaha, and possibly the ZVOX.
Also, it would help give tremendous context to our answers if we knew why you were getting rid of the Monitor Audio GOLD GX which must be pretty stunning speakers.
sorry mate.im moving to a smaller place so im selling my GS20s and amp for just a soundbar that nicely fits under the pioneer plasma
budget wise im willing to spend upto £1500
Well I had a demo of the Yamaha ysp2200 very impressed not as good as my gs20s but then I wasn't expecting it,just waiting on the demo of the new pioneer slh 600 then my gs20s will be going on ebay
the James SPL68 sound bar are £1800-1900 each
I honestly have never heard audio from a sound bar or indeed seperate speakers up to a budget to compare with these.
Just checked the dimensions and its to tall as I have a pioneer krp500m on a swivel stand so looks as its going to have to be the Yamaha
no probs Tristan
but just to let you know, James loudspeakers custom make them to your size using aircraft aluminium crafted cabinets so size isn`t an issue to them.
Anyway good luck
