I have recently bought a Hitachi 42PD7200 plasma and the picture is great but I know need to purchase an amp to give me dolby digital 5.1 etc. and I dont have a clue which one to get.

I have the following kit needing to be hooked up:

    XBOX - component and optical
    DVD - component/hdmi and optical
SKY+ - RGB scart and optical
Video - RGB scart and optical
Pinnacle Showcase - RGB scart and optical

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Cheers.

I have a Sony STR-DB795 7.1 amp which is great and cheap it has dolby digital 5.1/ex/pl2x. DTS 6.1/neo6/96-24 has 4 optical and 2 electrical inputs and 2 component inputs

Ok you really need to give a budget as I am sure we could suggest a AV 'amp' setup ranging from £50 to £50,000+

Don't bother getting one unless it has HDMI/DVI on it otherwise it is out of date before you start.

Budget would be up to £300 with speakers if possible. Ta.

For such requirements and a 300 pound budget you can only choose the Panasonic SA-XR70. You can find it on several webshops for approx GBP 285.
