    Hi

I thought today was going to be really good. Plasma arrived in the morning. Then when and got some cables and a drill bit so i can install the setup all in one go. Get the plasma out and here we go. http://www.irc-junkie.net/buzz/my_plasma.jpg

    Big image.

I think there slogan need to be changed to . UPS, consider it f**cked.

The delivery woman said that she had to load it into the van on here own. So its obvious she has laid it down or dropped it

So as you can imagei am gutted. To make it worse they ont have any other plasma to offer me so i'm getting a refund. So i now need to find a th42pe30 and wall mount. I paid £2100 for this one and don't really want to pay to much more

  WOOW! Hurts, man...! Well, hope you'll be able to find another good deal for this plasma...

If anything, they should post this picture in every single office at UPS (not that other co's aren't prone to this kind of sh.t to happen...). So the woman was asked to move the whole box with that heavy duty plasma screen inside, all on her own...?!? Unbelievably moronic!!

What's hard to believe though is that she didn't hear the noise that the glass must have made when breaking off... maybe she was hoping the thing would still be in one piece...?

Well I'm so glad my nice new VR5 turned up unscathed yesterday  , nicely strapped down in a van with the tiltometer thingy showing a confidence inspiring black dot

I must admit I was getting worried when 18:00 came around though, thoughts of it bouncing around in the back of a van all day  , just as well I heard a knock at the door at 18:02 :smashin:

Unlucky there m8, hope you get sorted out soon.

    Regards
    Andy.

Hang on a tick, I thought that transporting a plasma at ANY angle was totally fine providing it was suitably supported and not subject to any shocks (I'm not talking about watching celebrity BB :) )

Surely transporting a plasma flat is fine as long as it is fully cushioned and protected so that any 'pot-hole' loads are absorbed and not transported to the delicate areas of the plasma (i.e. the glass)??

Interesting question, I would be interested in the answer.

Drove home very gingerly with my setup in the car, screen facing up, on its side in the boot of my estate car.

No, glass is only "strong" in tension (and compression to a lesser extent). If the panel is stored upright all the forces will act in tension or compression. Laying it flat will allow the force from road bumps to act as a shear force and glass is very weak - and it will break.

Only ever transport a plasma upright...

Bugger, didn't think of it like that, Simon.

No need to transport the plasma any more, I'm not moving from here for the forseeable!

alright, so the plasma is supposed to be moved vertical only because of the tension and the risk that the glass might break. I thought it was because it would leak gas and had to be refilled when arriving at the destination :D :hiya: :D :hiya: :D :hiya:
