Just got back from seeing my new car :D:thumbsup::)

Peugeot 106 Zest 1.1 Red, it S reg and only done 40,000 miles. Drives perfectly . Even got Original Peugeot Alloys:smashin:.

We're picking it up on Sunday, cleaned, waxed, serviced and a full tank.

My driving instructor says I'm ready to go out with parents after just 3 lessons as well .

Anyone know a good place to buy a CD player? I would head to the ICE forum but I'd feel a bit dirty posting in there :rotfl: just kidding.

    Congratulations mate.

Evilgirlfriend2 drives a red 1.1 106 Zest and it's very comfortable and easy to drive (although I still prefer the older style).

How much did you pay for it and the insurance in the end? :)

Pressuming that you have not passed, just be patient, learn to drive and when you do pass, be careful.

    Good work on the car...:)

A very low £1525. Haven't sorted insurance yet, but we've got a quote from direct line which I think we're gonna take, around £1400 I think.

I will be very careful or Mum won't be very happy about her no claims :D

    well chuffed :)

Just remember that your driving instructor will teach you how to pass your test,
    not how to drive...

I learnt this the hard way and rolled my first car.

I wish I could go back in time to when I got my first car - the freedom it brought me was unsurpassed.

    Best of luck!

This is very true. After a year or so I would recommend signing up for the Institute of Advanced Motorists who will teach you to drive. I would also highly recommend some track driving which is firstly great fun but also it teaches the importance of smoothness and braking correctly. I also think every driver should spend some time on a skidpan. For most people the first time they skid is when something horrible has happened.

I remember Jackie Stewart saying it does not matter if you drive slowly or quickly, you are not as good a driver as you think you are

Looking good Chris, I'll look out for it. Not as nice as my first car though. ;)

It's hard to tell that you're a new driver with a shopping list like that!

I would suggest CD head unit, aerial and leave it at that for a while but then what would I know? :)

I don't think I will for my car, hopefully be able to get enough bass from speakers!

    The Alpines do look nice.

Isn't the load space restricted enough in the back of those things enough already without filling it up with subs?
I have loads of space in my boot but am happy to keep it for things! And my skateboard.

I know one person who has a £300 JVC head unit, and TWO subs in the boot, powered by a £600 amp.

And standard factory fit speakers :suicide:

john, do you ever drive through rowly? (of course you do :suicide: ) do you see that blue corsa? i was very involved with the making of that, he used to be our bar manager, and he has 4 12" subs, 4 amps, a £1000 pioneer 7" touch screen lcd dvd head unit two LCD's (one big one 17" i think). Loads of components and 6x9s.

It also has a 2.0L engine. i designed the custom front bumper on photoshop :)

I think I know the one you mean. Is it the one where the front bumper has been crunched up on the passenger side? Usually parked at the roundabout end of that road.

I think I've seen the owner washing it and think I went to school with him. I'd still take my Vectra over a souped up Corsa any day although I suspect that thing goes like sit off a shovel. :D :suicide:

yeah i was a bit extravagent with the design of the bumper, so hes got a new shorter one, but its still a bit duffed up i think.

parked near the side of the road, other side of a grass verge.

it does go, but because its so powerful the front lifts up and loses traction. hes called steve and i think hes 22, or nearly 22 anyway. very very tall.

someone just offered me a free cd player (kenwood) if i fix his computer, all it needs is a defrag and a despyware and some general maintenance :D

the benefits of living in a pub, tell everyone you have your first car and theyll chuck exhaust pipes, cd players, subs, alloys, engines etc at you :D

Nothing wrong with a sub in the car if it is done for quality and not to be part of the 'window down, arm out, boom boom' fraternity ;)

I replaced all the speakers in my car with Infinity Kappa's, got a good head unit that sounded good rather than had lots of flashy lights on it and then fitted a couple of Alpine amps and a 10" JL Audio sub.

I dont drive around with the windows down and the thing on full blast but the sub dosn't half make a difference. One of the amps died recently and it was horrible not having the sub to give that extra low end extension to music.

Back on topic...I still remember my first car....a MkII Ford Escort 1.3 GL. I bloody loved it :D

The 106 looks a great little car...look after her

i should of been more specific, as you say i dont like people who have the window down and blast out dance/hip hop round town.

it doesnt really have room for a sub either, unless i sacrifice the boot.

any tips on getting wires to the back of cars discretely? can i just use normal speaker cable? ta
