i actually do not like the songs that much but it has the 2 mics.

i cant open this to test or anythng but....

save faffing around with disks, if i was to install this to a 16gb memory stick, can i import the songs off all the other lips games into 1 file so that there is just 1 list wit ha ll songs, and not have to swap disks at a family event?

(i seem to remember hearing you can do this with the ps3 games?)

also (far less likely)

if i get the rockband tracks, can these be imported into a lips library OR if i buy rockband 3 can i import all previous rockband songs into that in the same way?

(then at least i will only have 2 games to have to swap between?

it seems such a faff if 1 song is on original lips, then 1 on 1 love 80s then one on rockband 2 then one on....... well you catch mydrift.

(i realise this is opening em up to the songs being imported and pirated but still)

cheers

No, Lips is disc swap only.

SingStar is disc swap only too. You cannot export the tracks from a SingStar disc onto the PS3 HDD.

No, Lips and Rock Band tracks are not interoperable, for all sorts of different legal, logical and technical reasons.

Thnaks for your reply

i suspected as much, i just read that in lips you could import your own songs, so i kind of hoped it would at least let you import other lips songs.

i had a quick google and it seems you CAN import all rock band tracks into rockband 3

BUT

am i right in saying you have to pay to do that? what is all that about? if i buy rockband 2 or rockband beatles, surely you should not have to pay to put all songs on a play list.

bit of a pain to be honest

cheers

Firstly, you cannot export the tracks from The Beatles: Rock Band at all. You can only play them within that game.

Secondly, as for why they charge to export: well it's a subject of much debate but basically when you buy a Rock Band game, the license for the on-disc tracks only covers you being able to play those tracks in that game. Beyond that, Harmonix negotiate with the record labels and artists to allow for the license to be extended beyond the disc. That incurs a fee which is then in turn passed onto us.

As always, if you don't like it, just vote with your wallet.

easier said than done when you have the other half wanting the songs, its just a pita if you have to swap disks every other song but i guess i will just have to live with it.*

*am actually thinking i should have just got this

Free karaoke software, player and editor.

I do actually have an xbox 360 crossfire adapter which am guessing the xbox mics work with so maybe i still will :)

edit
actually, the mics dont work with the crossfire adapter, so would have to get some usb mics.

In addition to what Plex has said, Beatles RB is the only RB game you cannot import.

You CAN import RB1, RB2, AC/DC Track Pack, Lego RB and Green Day RB so that they are all accessible thru RB3 (give or take half a dozen tracks).

Edit....P.S. RB1 is free to import/export

Back to the Lips game, you'll find the Microsoft Server that stores the scores & latest DLC often becomes unstable, so if you want the latest songs, this can only be done on the xbox.com website or marketplace on the console, not through the game or the lips music store mini game. Scores don't get updated which is the only thing keeping the game competitive.

I expect MS are doing it on purpose so they can phase the whole Lips thing out.
