Bought a Sony freeview box today :D . Had it all working and installed within about ten minutes . I think I'm getting everything I can so all's well except for one thing  . Occasional programs will be off centre or even alot smaller than the screen size leaving black bars. Tonight I had the football on and had a 2" bar on the left and 3" bar on the right. I've tried adjusting anything I can think off with the box and also the TV - Toshiba 32" thats about six years old.

Is there anything that springs to mind I could try??

    Cheers

    Karl

S'funny - I had the same problem with the footy tonight on my newly purchased today Pioneer STB.

Did you find out what the cause was?

Thought I'd sorted it but when I turned to the highlights of the football on ITV2 the bars were back. My only guess is that maybe as it was coming from Italy they use different signals that our boxes don't like???

ITV don't have any control over the format away games are captured in so it is good old 4:3. However pictures in the studio are generally 16:9. So what ITV do is output the picture in 16:9 with black bars on the left and right so the same "picture" is shown. What I do with my sky box is put the picture in 4:3 for the duration of the game (I hate black bars!)

I guess you should do the same with your freeview box.
