Google TV to be in 'most televisions' in 2012?

Speaking ahead of the impending CES event, and possibly stealing some of the TV manufacturers' thunder, Chairman of Google, Eric Schmidt, stated that he expects most Smart TVs to feature Google TV embedded, in the coming year.

Speaking at the Le Web Conference being held in Paris, he said: “By the summer of 2012, the majority of the televisions you see in stores will have Google TV embedded in them.”

It would be a major development, if true, and bearing in mind the lacklustre performance of the Google TV Logitech boxes - and Logitech's subsequent damning of the platform as 'beta software' - a bold one. Google has subsequently upgraded to version 2.0 and there's strong suggestions that Samsung might show off a 'Google TV' at CES too.

They really are everywhere, aren't they? What next, an Apple TV - probably!
