No wonder they had to drop the Nexus branding.

Thats puts them right at the top end of the price bracket in line with Apple and Samsung which I've always thought were over priced.

I'll probably go back to the chinese market now for my next phone, will keep the 6P for a while yet though.

    £819 for the 128gb xl

nearly £300 more than i paid for the 128gb 6P

I was considering a google phone expecting sensible pricing but those figures are just eye watering...

Rather keep my R7 Plus and put the rest towards eye watering priced AV equipment instead - just seems to make more sense to me lol!

Looks a brilliant piece of kit though, but agree was hoping for Nexus 6P similar pricing. Will keep my 6P for abit longer now

Is nice and very clever but doesn't do much more than my S7 atm so I'll keep that. I suspect google will keep updating it with cool stuff though.

It's beyond what i can pay for a phone, £30 more than a HTC 10, or £50 more than a S7, not a huge amount above those, i have a 5x and the 2700mah battery in it is disappointing, was hoping for at least 3000mah,
plus it really does look like a iphone.

I was going to send them a letter, but was unable to find a sheet large enough to print the word FAIL in a typeface size I felt was needed to express my viewpoint.

What I don't understand is just how out of touch people in business can be.
Ever since day 1 of the possible price leaked out, every single dam posting I've read has said they are way too expensive, so how come THEY could not realise this?

    Stereo Speakers?
    Curved Screens?
    Waterproofing?
    Taptic Engines?
Resale values due to BIG brand names?
    Iris Scanners?
    Dual lens cameras?
    Fastest CPUs/GPU's ?

That's the type of arena they are stepping into?

    Just crazy.

I really dont see how these phone are any more premium than the Nexus'

I have an iPhone 6+ and was nearly going to buy a S7 Edge. Then waited for the iPhone 7, then waited for the Pixel. Was fine about getting a less of a phone for Nexus prices pure Android and instant Android updates, but Google have lost it.

I honestly don't see anything that should cause this price increase. Nothing more than a slight increase on a 6P for not very much money.

    Sorry Google, no deal.

Yeah I actually thought is it really a upgrade from last years 6p, and that's before they announced the price. Basically they've removed the dual speakers and it's got a similar screen and camera but with a slightly better SoC and extra gig of ram.

Surely the average consumer will buy a Samsung or iPhone at this price point and if not then nearly every phone that came out this year has similar or better specs for a cheaper price. Makes no sense.

I'm seeing a lot of the same posts at the moment, basically moaning about the price.

All boils down to everyone enjoying Google subsidising the prices of the Nexus phones for so many years that the moment they decide to go into the premium bracket, the prices are now suddenly too high and it's see ya later Google.

I miss the Nexus 4 / 5 Days, Amazing phones for fair prices. Google trying to pull an Apple isn't going to work for them with all the other Android OEM's out there. They're also £50pm on a contract. Madness !!!

If you were on about the N4 & N5 I'd say you have a fair point but the N6 onwards have hardly been bargain basement phones

Your right but pricing the 128gb XL version at £819 is madness. If i can find a non exploding version, I'll take my chances with the Note 7!

It's not that much of a premium phone though. Not sd slot, quite boring to look at, top/bottom bezels to rival my iPhone. Not enough to ignore a One+1 or huwai thing at a cheaper price. Or even a 6p if you cab get a new one still.

It still has a big plus though, the fact it is Google's phone. This thing will be Google mad and so updates are going to be very interesting.

But it is so dull looking though. If it looked better I'd be very tempted. The white version is awful. Need to see more black version pictures.

Does anyone know if the Nexus 6p will be compatible with the daydream be headset.
Was interested in the pixel xl but at over £800 for the 128gb model I'd rather keep my 128gb 6p for at least another year

But the price was still low enough that people were willing to lay out the cash. And that's the key here as I said before-too many people expecting an expensive phone for a cheap price.

Just seems like people are unhappy that Google have gone all in on the premium route and they can't get the latest and greatest from Google at a low price.

I've been with Apple again for the last year but sorely miss my Nexus 5 and am considering going back to Android Vanilla again.

Thing is, I moved back to Apple purely due to needing compatibility with Apple's Photos app and iTunes (somewhat).

Has there been much progression in syncing seamlessly from Android to Apple Photos app and iTunes? I remember with my Nexus 5 I'd sync the photos but then would have to go back to Photos app and delete all the thumbnails that annoyingly came up as duplicates of the photos I'd synced. That was the last straw and I moved back to the iPhone...... But would much rather have an Android!

Thats the problem, people, including myself buying nexus line because they are cheap and quality phones, the nexus range was originally intended for developers to have a phone with the very latest software so they could develope for the platform, as consumers realised they could get high end specs and low prices google were also noticing they suddenly have a brand on their hands.

Only Samsung and apple seem to be able to live in the high end and make money. Not sure what Google are thinking here, I guess they want to grow up as a hardware company

I have the same question, there is some speculation that the 6P wont but also some stating the opposite. All very confusing!

The 5.5" 128gb Pixel is the same price as an iPhone 7 5.5" 128gb and this is NOT the same quality of phone.

While i completely understand that Google subbed the costs of the Nexus range, to market their new phone with NOTHING outstanding in build quality or hardware features for the same price as an Apple phone is crazy.

Geeks understand the value of raw Android. No-one normal on the street understands this or even knows what stock Android is. Google will sell this as just that, but because they never marketed the Nexus range, no-one on the street will know what that means and the advantage of a stock Android phone and just see £819 for a large display phone. Sadly those that do will see that this is a less than premium hardware phone. Asking them to pay this amount of money for that is too much of a leap....IMO

Well no, granted I haven't and I'll willing to look and touch it in a shop if it's possible in the UK, but nothing stands out on this hardware wise. Better camera than everyone else? Well it's a launch quote, so thats taken with a pinch of salt until proven otherwise. No optical stabalization, no waterproofing either. And what is with that glass section at the top?! Not very nice, again IMO

Even Apple has managed to move those cellular bands that everyone else used to around the edge of the phone so you cannot see them now.
