Google music 'All Access'

Hi. I have decided to subscribe to all access to see how i get on with it.

Anyone have any ideas the best way to get this content to my 2 channel amp (analogue)?

I have a SBT and a duet but there seems to be no support?

For the last couple of weeks i have been using phone/tablet via 3.5 to rca which for obvious reasons isn't ideal.

I'd like to be able to listen in as good a quality as possible and not have to use my phone.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks.

Hi, if your phone or tablet is an iOS device then you could fit an Airport Express and audio out from that to your existing amp, then airplay from iPhone/iPad.

Can't see an obvious Airport Extreme alternative if you're running Android. I found this - $10 adapter turns Chromecast into cheap Sonos competitor - Liliputing
- which is fairly crude but would work in allowing you to cast from an Android device, you would just need to.make sure your audio playback app was Chromecast enabled. And you'd need a Chromecast.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, i have a Nexus 5 and 10. Don't use any apple products but admittedly it would make things easier for what i need to do.

As well as your link would any dlna media server work? Western digital etc?

I just found an app (cast to UPnP/DLNA) which syncs with Google music and finds my TV. I presume this app would find any dlna device so it appears there are options!

I picked up a Chromecast the other day and am able to play videos stored on my dlna NAS (just a basic Netgear Stora) on my TV but controlled via my Samsung S4 using an app called Bubble UPnP - for music I can't say how great it is as I have the free version which limits the number of tracks cast.

Thanks for that. For your reference this other app i found is by the same dev as Bubble UPnP. May be worth you checking it out!

Have just found this -http://blog.scphillips.com/2013/07/playing-music-on-a-raspberry-pi-using-upnp-and-dlna-revisited/

With the app you have if I understand it correctly it casts to any DLNA device it can see. In which case a Raspberry Pi with audio out to your existing amp could work.

I'll have a look later. Would need to analogue outputs though as i don't have a DAC at the moment.

Would be great if squeezebox supported what i need!

I'm pretty sure Raspberry Pi is just a 3.5 jack out so think you'd be OK. The command line code in the link is off-putting but if followed to the letter is meant to be pretty straightforward.

Don't have a Squeezebox, but doesn't the Logitech Media Server allow it to stream from any UPnP/DLNA server, if LMS's UPnP/DLNA plugin is switched on?

The Cast To UPnP/DLNA app should appear as a UPnP/DLNA server to a supporting streamer, so you may be able to use the SBT directly anyway!

You may even be able to use the BubbleUPnP app Ricoandreas mentioned, as apparently the SBT should appear as a renderer for BubbleUPnP to be able to control (and presumably play the Google music to) - see this post from the BubbleUPnP app thread on the XDA forums:

I'll have to check it out to see what it can do!

Not had a chance to try it out yet. Will be cool if i can get it to work through the touch as the on board dac I'd pretty good.

Thanks for the help chaps.

Tried playing music through my SB but it doesn't want to play ball. The app recognises the SB but won't send the music through it.

Any ideas what the problem may be anyone?

Have you tried reducing the number if streams in the cast apps setting to 0, I'm not sure what it does but it seemed to help on my setup

Just tried it. Not helped as it only picked the TV after doing this. Then out of interest i changed it to 5 and this is the result below. Still no joy as none of them play the feed.

So to clarify, you have the so I'm trying to use playing through your SB to your amp?

On mine I see a squeezebox on the list and it plays to it, however I only see one squeezbox at the moment and I have 4 and I've never worked out how to make the test visible, they seem to come and go.

On a side note sonos have added support for play music today

Mmmm intersting. Dismissed sonos initially for cost/value reasons but that could swing it for me. I have a brand new touch still in box and a duet i could sell to fund!

Just had a look at how this would work for me.

I'd need a sonos connect at £279. For this i can send music directly from Google play to connect to amp.

I would be better finding a cheaper dlna alternative and adding a dac for the same money surely (using bubble app)? After all I'd be using the Google play app to select the music so it seems a little expensive for what I'd be getting or am i understanding it incorrectly?
