Don't know how old the map is but Palm island in Dubai doesn't show?

Eiffel tower is interesting, you can see the shadow it makes, L'Arc de Triomphe is cool seeing all the roads leading to it.

Going to get my school geography books out!

Well according to this website go to 14^41'28.222 South by 75^06'42.86 West

You can see some lines but they're not very clear. Not a high-definitiion area.

If anyone would like the installation file, I can gmail it to you.
I've had to rename it and zip it up so GMail will let me send it but it does work.
Send me a PM if you want it. (10 Meg file)
That or just keep trying Google's site. I've noticed it allows downloads at random times (normally while America is asleep).
Just checked now and it's still down.

Good find :) What an amazing piece of software.

My only gripe would be that some of the places i've wanted to view (places of local interest) are very low resolution - presumably the maps get updated every so often though so no doubt this will improve.

    Ayers Rock looks pretty amazing - 25 20 45 S 131 02 00 E :)

You could also try GOOGLE MAPS .

No software required and high res sat images of most major cities.

Already seen 'our house' on it

Just tried Google Earth and yep it's exactly the same data as Google Maps just using a fancier navigator.

With a few nice bells and whistles like 3D terrain and 'flying' from one position to another. Easily scrollable. Part of the fun is tilting the angle of view and travelling through a mountain range or down a street in Manhattan with the buildings turned on.
